I just have many friends getting married just now (unfortunately they are all sane, so I have to live vicariously through Tidy)

Yes I too fear a loud booming voice saying 'How dare you walk into my house' followed by loud crackling and being frazzled by a thunderbolt from the altar , if I went in a church these days .
