To tell you to check your KINDLE Keyboard 3G for cracks if you have one?

If your Kindle Keyboard 3G has a hairline crack running diagonally downwards from the bottom corner of the screen to the edge of the casing, it's a very common fault.

It can cause the screen to completely freeze up months down the line. If you are then out of your warranty time, you're stuffed. If you're within warranty, get Amazon to change it now, even if the device is currently working.

Hoping to prevent this giving anyone else the Angry

Pleased to hear that.

I was pootling round Waterstones with DS3 this afternoon and looking at the Kindles. I like the way the text is sharper on the Paperwhite but I do prefer the screen on the ordinary Kindle.

Well, I had to find this thread to thank the OP! When i first read it, i had a good look at my Kindle, found no cracks, breathed a sight of relief and that was it. Then about three days ago I've noticed the crack! I've had my Kindle for for almost two years now, so if it wasn't for this thread, I would have never thought to ring Amazon about it.

I've just got off the phone to Customer Services, and my new Kindle Touch 3G should be arriving tomorrow! That is much more than I expected, i thought maybe they would give me a discount on a new one at most, as I am not a very pushy person, and not very good at haggling, but I didn't need to be, the adviser just offered me a new one straight away!

Thanks again for this thread, OP!

Good call OP, I've got one I'll check it when I get home.

I'll also direct my friend to check as well as hers has recently broken. She's been offered £60 towards a new one I think as it's out of warranty.
