To expect to payment for summer holidays after working in a school?

Just left a job in a private school. Will be starting a new one in September. If I worked in a state school I would receive payment over the summer holidays (please correct me anyone if I am wrong). My employer however stopped paying me the day I left, despite my contract stating an annual salary and not an hourly or daily rate.

I am lucky in that my DH earns enough for us to scrape by until September. However there are others where I worked who feel trapped as they would be forced to find alternative temporary employment for the summer if they were to move on.

AIBU to think this is wrong?

Exactly ihearsounds. I'm not teaching anymore, but in my current job I'm paid 1 month in arrears for my standard hours and 2 months for overtime. If I worked out my notice and left I would be paid something for at least 1 month after I'd left.

I think the OP's title about being paid for school holidays has confused people. Accrued holiday pay is a different issue, this is about being paid for work already done.

Squeakytoy is right.

Check your letter again - P60 is your last (so 2012/2013) tax year report and July is quite late to get it so maybe that's why they've sent a letter? Can you check with a colleague to see if they've had the same?

Your P45 should come with your final paycheck for you to hand over to your new employer.

Your p60 has nothing to do with leaving, you will receive a p45 when you leave.

I'd you resigned at the end of July, why would you expect to be paid in August?
