Thats it really. A wealthy woman who has married into a wealthy family who takes even more money from hard working people is having a baby. So fucking what! I cant understand why people cow tow to a group of people who are unelected and have no admirable qualities at all. Before you tell me how much money they bring in - imagine the increase in tourism if we could actually get into the properties that we own once we kick them out.

I was disgusted that my news app had "Kate going into labour" as a news flash.'Ffs, I believe there is actual news going on in the world.

If this thread is where we can come and roll our eyes at all the Royal Magic Baby bollocks, then it is serving a much needed purpose.

FWIW, I think it's a disgrace to still have a monarchy in this day and age. I cannot abide, that due to a mere accident of birth, I have to curtsey and not speak unless spoken to, to another human being.

brdgrl · 22/07/2013 11:04

YANBU.
My favourite text in to the BBC this morning was the one they read out which said something like
"Why didn't they steamclean the building [St Mary's]? That's where our future king is being born! It's a disgrace!"
Yes....right....hospitals closing all over, but we should spend taxpayer money on cleaning a private hospital so that it looks nice in the photos. Fuck off.

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 22/07/2013 11:05

I hope Harry becomes the fun uncle and draws moustaches and shit on the baby and puts it in funny costumes.

That sort of stuff I dont mind seeing Grin

Ahh one day I will be carrying the child of Harry and there had best be all this fuss!

LaRegina · 22/07/2013 11:06

I'm really trying not to be a grumpy old cynic but every time I hear a gushing report on the news I can't help thinking grumpy thoughts - ie

"The Duchess travelled to hospital with William by her side"

Whoopee doo, where the fuck else is he expected to be?

"The Duchess is in hospital in the early stages of labour"

Not like the rest of us then, who would be expected to be on all fours at home, trying to cope on baby breathing and paracetamol alone because the hospital is too busy to admit us until we're about to drop...

"Advice for the first time parents is being sent in from well-wishers around the world"

Yes because they'll need to know how to cope with sleepless nights, a drop in income, changing nappies constantly... won't they Hmm

Royal Magic Baby!

GrinGrin

I'm another one who is decidedly unexcited by anything royal.

I did have to laugh when it was reported on the Today programme that Diana had an induction partly to fit William's birth into Charles' polo season schedule. One wouldn't want to miss a jolly good chukka, what.

Entitled wanker.

melika · 22/07/2013 11:09

Exactly, LaRegina, hospital don't let you come in til you are about to pop, you'd get sent home if you were in the 'early stages of labour'.

BENEFITS SCROUNGER IN PRIVATE HOSPITAL SHOCKER.

A 31 year old woman was taken to a private hospital in Central London to give birth to yet another burden on the state. The woman is part of the notorious Windsor clan, claimants of benefits running into the tens of millions of pounds...

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 22/07/2013 11:12

Nicholas Grin Just actually choked laughing!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 22/07/2013 11:13

squoosh · 22/07/2013 11:16

Ooooh I didn't realise Peter Orangeade and his gf had an 18 year age gap!

Sorry Royal Magic Baby my attention is fully back on you now.

PrettyKitty1986 · 22/07/2013 11:16

The only interest I have is that my work had a competition on, where anyone that guesses the correct name gets £100 in vouchers for a store of your choosing :)

I've guessed Louis for a boy and Elizabeth for a girl. Come on! Let's get little Louis or Lizzie out!

DamnDeDoubtance · 22/07/2013 11:16

Driving me crazy too. I mean bless her and all that, hope it all goes well.

BUT this week gay people were given the right to marry and it was so under reported and that's huge news.

LOVE Royal Magic Baby and shall use it henceforth. Grin

Sheshelob · 22/07/2013 11:19

She should be labouring in a stable, surely, what with the baby being so magic and all?

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 22/07/2013 11:21

I'm confused, who has wished her a bad labour? I don't see that. Or am I not reading properly?

Fakebook · 22/07/2013 11:28

You sound bitter about their money. Why?

I think it's lovely...but I get excited by all births.

PeanutButterMmm · 22/07/2013 11:29

That's your opinion, not everyone has to like the royal family or care about it. On the other hand they also bring a lot of joy to the country and to billions of people around the world.

And yes you are right, they do bring an awful lot of money into the country through tourism and if you took that away there would be a huge gap. The royal family generate far more money into the country than they take out.

If you don't like it, don't watch or lisen to any of it. It's that simple.

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 22/07/2013 11:29

Puds No one did, just people been over protective and imagining things about a person we dont personally know. Taking offence on their behalf it seems.

glamourousgranny42 · 22/07/2013 11:30

Wow! That hit a nerve with some people. How dare I voice an opinion that suggests this baby is no more important than any other.

I think being told to fuck off is a bit strong! Get a grip! Some people have different views shock horror! Sorry for sullying your pretty princess love in.

Im heartened to see so many sensible mnetters who refuse to bow to money and entitlement.

Come the revolution and all that .........

OP YANBU

Of course I hope they have a happy and health baby - just as I would wish that for anyone who is having a child. All children are precious.

I certainly don't think the baby is anything more special than any other child in this world just because he or she happens to have a particular set of genes.

All this oh it's a royal baby nonsense just makes me want to vomit.

There will definitely be no tugging of forelocks here!

YonisAreForever · 22/07/2013 11:36

I am excited for a number of reasons, I feel excitement when any baby is born, to me its still a very miraculous thing.

There is so much misery in the news, its lovely to have something wonderful and positive to be going round for a few days.

I feel so happy for William, after his personal circumstances in life and the awful tragedy he has been through which no amount of money could cushion him from, is about to have his own little family.

I feel sad because I know what its like to have a baby and your mother not to be alive to share the joy.

It was apparent with the odd details of the wedding, and the ring that William is still very much missing his mother, times like these really bring that loss into sharper focus, and I have no doubts he will be wet eyed as Carol holds the baby, and that void is there.

FreudiansSlipper · 22/07/2013 11:37

i have yet to meet a tourist who has come purely for the royal family Hmm

are we going to get a sudden influx of tourists because a royal baby has been born i doubt it
