I'm ready to be judged/ flamed

we were at my sisters house and they had a sprinkler

as I had not bought swimming stuff for my ds (4) I said they could run around in their pants (trunk style) and then go home commando style

dh said that was common

I thought it was better they do that then not be able to play in the water with their cousins

was it common? what should I have done instead

LookMaw · 21/07/2013 19:56

Does it matter if it was?

Who was your DH trying to impress?

Earthworms · 21/07/2013 19:56

Go nekkid then go home fully dressed?

MalcolmTuckerSwearsBy · 21/07/2013 19:57

Dh is being odd.

LeoTheLateBloomer · 21/07/2013 19:57

If it was DD and her cousins they wouldn't have been wearing anything. Not that I think what you did was common, just less practical.

DomesticCEO · 21/07/2013 19:58

In the back garden just go naked - why do they need to wear pants? Confused

Mabelface · 21/07/2013 19:58

I hate that expression. Practical is the word, not common.

BigW · 21/07/2013 19:59

Was he worried that your sister might think less of you? Hmm

Doesn't he realise that if you're common there's a good chance she is too Wink

ThingsThatMakeYouGoHmmmmmmmmm · 21/07/2013 20:00

Enjoying fun in the water, while in their pants, or travelling home sans kecks? Which did your DH think was common ?

Either way, I can confirm that he is a loon.

superbagpuss · 21/07/2013 20:00

CreatureRetorts · 21/07/2013 20:01

Common?!
Who will know?

superbagpuss · 21/07/2013 20:01

*there, stupid spelling error

DespicableYou · 21/07/2013 20:02

My DD went out commando today and then announced as we walked back from the shops "Mummy, I don't have any knickers on!!" very loudly.

We probably looked common.

I couldn't care less.

Xihha · 21/07/2013 20:02

Well obviously you should always have his swimming stuff with you Wink

Grandmama used to let my brothers and sisters and I just run round in our underwear if we fancied playing with the sprinkler/an impromptu trip to the seaside (although the girls had to wear vests once we were about 6) and she is the worlds snobbiest woman so it can't be common.

valiumredhead · 21/07/2013 20:07

Common?Confused it's sensible

pianodoodle · 21/07/2013 20:09

It's fine! He's being strange.

catgirl1976 · 21/07/2013 20:09

He's loon

Plus only someone "common" would use the word "common"

yanbu

he is odd

BaldricksTurnip · 21/07/2013 20:10

Common? What a horribly snobby thing to say!

HorryIsUpduffed · 21/07/2013 20:11

I'd just about tolerate "common" if it had been the front garden. But still unnecessarily rude.

firesidechat · 21/07/2013 20:14

I have a perfectly attuned common detector. It's not common.

McNewPants2013 · 21/07/2013 20:21

Even if it was common, why would he care about other people's views rather than his children having fun.

Fakebook · 21/07/2013 20:23

You should have asked him what he proposed you do. Dip shit.

Catsize · 21/07/2013 20:27

You did the right thing. Why deprive him of the fun? Now, if he had been 40 (not 4) and walking through the streets commando...

Emilythornesbff · 21/07/2013 20:28

What was "common" (old lady word much?)?
Pants for, playing or commando for travelling?

Some of my best days out have ended with going home withmy knickers in my bag Grin

He's talking rubbish.
I hope you all had fun.
