Meryl Streep et al murdering Abba.
Christ on a bike.

It is spectacularly bad and IIRC Meryl Streep was nominated for an Oscar for it.

Strange times, strange times.

That said, Stellan Skaarsgaaarrrrddd is a hot scandi pepaw and I'd take him over Aleksander ANY DAY.

"Brosnan, especially, was savaged by many critics: his singing was compared to "a water buffalo", "a donkey braying" and "a wounded raccoon", and Matt Brunson of Creative Loafing Charlotte said he "looks physically pained choking out the lyrics, as if he's being subjected to a prostate exam just outside of the camera's eye." Grin

purplewithred · 20/07/2013 21:27

Loathed every second.

TheHandbagOfGlory · 20/07/2013 21:27

Squoosh Grin yy to Mediterranean leprechaun.

It's one of those films that laydeez are meant to like but are rubbish. I remember reading many times that people's favourite film was Breakfast At Tiffanys so I excitedly bought the DVD and it was utter shite. Such a disappointment.

llynnnn · 20/07/2013 21:30

YABU, love a good musical Smile

FunLovinBunster · 20/07/2013 21:33

Streep is getting it on with Brosnan
Properly boaking.

OP posts:
ChocChaffinch · 20/07/2013 21:34

ah it's lovely :-) love Julie Walters and the Swedish (?) guy getting it on

VerlaineChasedRimbauds · 20/07/2013 21:35

Grease is the only decent musical Shock

Mintyy · 20/07/2013 21:35

Yanbu. It is totally unwatchable. My dd and her friends loved it when they were about 10 - nuff said.

TheHandbagOfGlory · 20/07/2013 21:37

I shouldn't really be allowed to comment as I do have a soft spot for Grease 2 Blush but its so cheesy it's good!

Feminine · 20/07/2013 21:37

I hated it. I actually couldn't believe what I was seeing!

In 1982 I (with my sister) got hold of the 'Super trooper' album, and made an entire play round it!

I was 10/11.
This tripe was the same , only with adults Shock

SnoopySnoopyDoggDogg · 20/07/2013 21:37

Oh god I wish I'd seen this thread two hours ago :(

Just wasted my evening watching it waiting for it to get good, seeing as everyone raved about it and I get Shock faces whenever I mention I haven't seen it.

What a load of wank.

but I'd still do Brosnan...provided the volume was off

gremlindolphin · 20/07/2013 21:37

I hate it too! Thought i was the only one for ages! xx

Catmint · 20/07/2013 21:38

Awful.

DamnDeDoubtance · 20/07/2013 21:38

The only decent musical is The Slipper and The Rose.

ScariestFairyByFar · 20/07/2013 21:40

It is awful and the irony that because its set in a beautiful hot country that's its ok for her to not know who the father of her daughter is isn't lost on me! If it was set in the uk it would be a docudrama and we'd all be calling her a bit of a slut! Grin

FunLovinBunster · 20/07/2013 21:44

Grease? What's not to love? I was 9 when it came out and it was just the best thing ever. At least they sang in tune and could act...unlike that wank fest MM that has just finished...

FunLovinBunster · 20/07/2013 21:45

PS I haven't watched all of ET either. The bit I saw was one big cinematic turd.

OP posts:
squoosh · 20/07/2013 21:46

Grease is so depressing, gives me the serious blues. Sophie's Choice is less grim.

I love MM! Grin
I did say on my FB last time it was on...."Can you imagine this lot on Jeremy Kyle?"
"So Donna you have slept with three men and you don't know who the father is????"Wink

FunLovinBunster · 20/07/2013 21:54

Facebook=MM=load of shite

OP posts:
Burmobasher · 20/07/2013 21:56

So glad there are some like minded people, it's fucking awful. I couldn't believe how bad it was when I watched it. To the point of cringeworthy.
I thought maybe I was missing something in my genetic make-up as everybody else seemed to love it.

katykuns · 20/07/2013 22:01

It is the cheesiest thing I have ever watched, but I kinda appreciated it for being a bit silly and eventually got into it and enjoyed it. I think it was massively overrated though.

girlwith I adored Les Miserables film musical... I literally looked like Shock when I read your comment xD
