I don't get it. I just don't...

Some would say that there must be something wrong with me to not agree with it... but I don't get it, I just think no... not for a baby..

Oh dear, they've even got ones with bottoms designed to go over nappies!

When my daughter was really small she had a tankini because it was easier to put the top and bottoms on seperately and made it much easier if she needed the loo but it covered as much skin as a swimming costume would.

IMO the little triangle bikini tops are disgusting on a child and I wont let my daughter wear them. plus if you are wearing them outside there is far too much skin exposed to the sun (I make my son keep a t-shirt on at the beach for the same reason)

Suzieismyname · 20/07/2013 14:28

Horrible.

NobodyPutsMyBabyInTheCorner · 20/07/2013 14:49

I have a little tankini type of thing for my DD (2) and it's fine. However I do find the triangles a bit disturbing, not sure why?

how ridiculous.

small children/babies at the beach should wear sunsuits and hats, not tiny swimsuits of any kind.

usualsuspect · 20/07/2013 15:29

Meh

catinabox · 20/07/2013 15:36

God, how absolutely depressing, and disturbing. What is the matter with people? YANBU.

mikkii · 20/07/2013 15:49

My DD's wear bikini bottoms on holiday, even the 6yo doesn't bother with a top. Most of DD's sets no longer match as tops are pristine whilst bottoms are faded.

DD2 does have a bikini with triangle top (don't flame me, it was a gift), we just leave it at home.

The best we have are some that are just pants, no tops, much better.

Beastofburden · 20/07/2013 15:54

Two pieces aren't new, I had one in the early 1960s. But it was as sexy as a cheese sandwich, and was mainly so I could pee, I think. That whole pink bow hair band on bald baby head, plus zebra skin combo is creepy on a baby, yes including the triangle tops.

Mine lived in those all in one sunproof Lycra zip up things, brilliant at keeping sand out of little girls bottoms as well, no more itchy nights.

My dd has this, so essentially a vest and swim pants, purely as we may be potty training this summer and so its easier to just pull bottoms down rather than take off a costume. At the pool she only wears the bottoms over a swim.nappy as no need to put a top on as she has nothing to cover. At the beach i tend to put her in the bottoms and a t shirt on top because of the sun.

Little bikini tops are pointless as they dont have boobs and they offer no aun protection.

soontobeburns · 20/07/2013 16:03

Wrong wrong wrong.

Im sorry but it just looks like young babies even are being sexualised at such a young age. Whats next having toddlers in thongs ffs

Whothefuckfarted · 20/07/2013 16:07

You see, that's the difference for me. Two pieces, great, there are some lovely ones and I can see the more practical side to them. But the triangle ones just freaked me out when I saw them..

I've got photos of my DDs in bikinis as toddlers.

Something else I did wrong, according to the MN rules on parenting.

Oh well.

NinaJade666 · 20/07/2013 17:31

That really is awful. String bikinis for babies is just plain wrong. How can anyone think it's 'cute' ???

Yuk! YANBU

Branleuse · 20/07/2013 17:49

i have no strong feelings on the subject.

looks a bit silly, but... meh

ChestyNut · 20/07/2013 17:49

That particular one is a bit strange

Can't see anything wrong in two pieces though.

cheerfulweather · 20/07/2013 17:54

I find them unnecessary at that age. Bikini bottoms alone will do just fine.

cheerfulweather · 20/07/2013 17:56

Though most babies I've seen this summer have been in UV suits with legionnaire style hats.

Sirzy · 20/07/2013 17:58

I have no issue with little girls in bikinis, but i do have issue with things like that - so wrong!

LittleRedDinosaur · 20/07/2013 18:20

Nasty.

Faezy · 20/07/2013 18:25

God they're horrid. The tops are disturbing

ChristineDaae · 20/07/2013 18:29

I really really hate anyone younger than hitting puberty in a bikini. I just don't see why?!
That's only me though. Each to their own I guess

cheerfulweather · 20/07/2013 18:34

I've just looked at the link. My they're ugly bikinis, the headband too.

wigglesrock · 20/07/2013 18:37

All my daughters wear two pieces, tankinis I suppose they are. I know the ones you've linked to are different but mine wear seperates because its so much easier to go to the toilet in or change a nappy. Is there anything more awkward than peeling a wet swimsuit off a squirmy child.

They also wore bikini bottoms with t-shirts a lot on holidays and here over the past few weeks.
