to hate the question: 'are you feeding your baby yourself'?

No, Bob round the corner is doing it.

Oh wait, of course I'm feeding my baby my-bloody-self.

I must've been asked this 4-5 times per week when my children were babies and was reminded today when someone asked my friend. She formula feeds and the inference behind the question is 'are you breastfeeding?' so technically her answer should be no but...really, AIBU to think it's a pretty stupid way to ask a personal and unnecessary question?

YANBU this question always made me feel abit uncomfortable because it was often strangers asking. My family and friends knew I was BF but why do strangers need to know

My GP at her 6 week check said So are you bottle feeding her? like he assumed I was...that jarred with me for some reason maybe because I worked my arse off to establish BF?! so my response of No she's EBF was rather defensive. Probably would have been better if he's just asked if she was bottle or breast fed.

I didn't know it was a way of asking about sleep so I normally say "Aw, yes, she's lovely" about my 11 wk old in response to "is she good?" almost inadvertently doing the 'yes, she's bloody brilliant!" Ha ha!
