to want to take her pushchair back up the fucking stairs

On the tube recently, a woman with a push chair was struggling to get it down the stairs. An old man picked up one end of it to help her. Being a younger gentleman I offered to take it from him. I carried it down to the bottom of the stairs. The woman then just turned and walked off with the pushchair. No "thank you", no smile, no eye contact. Nothing.

I cant believe someone would be that rude.

Disgusting behaviour.

ooh, to be honest most people are very grateful for a hand.

maybe she was depressed/ foreign.. don't know but yes very rude.

Murdering all your neighbours, chopping them up and composting them to feed your begonias is disgusting behaviour.

Maybe she didn't feel she was struggling and didn't actually want someone to lift her pushchair down the stairs.

She clearly needed help, she was stuck at the top of the stairs until the old man helped her.

Why do I care?? Do you not attach any importance to manners?

Idontbowl - are you for real? The OP did a nice thing and was treated quite rudely. I would imagine that's why he cares....

Of course, but I wouldn't give it a second thought if someone didn't act in the same way I would. People are rude sometimes, you did a nice thing, it wasn't appreciated. Move on.

On the tube people like you are very rare!! You did a very nice thing and she was rude not to thank you for stopping and helping.

On so many occasions I have struggled up/down stairs and would have been really grateful for help.Some people just have bad manners.

There's another tube/buggy thread going about a mum who couldn't get help, there are lots of calls of "awful", "make sure you can lift both buggy & baby next time", "passengers are usually more helpful than staff", etc.

On this thread someone who very kindly helped someone who was struggling gets told to "get over yourself".

I agree an acknowledgement should have been forthcoming

YANBU, she was very very rude. But please don't let it put you off helping. When I took my two young kids to London for a weekend I was really grateful to all the lovely people who helped me with the buggy.

Rude. But maybe she was very depressed or had just had a bereavement, in which case she may be feeling like it's a lot to ask to even be up in the morning rather than having to deal with jovial yet well meaning friendly helpful strangers

I always help people on tubes, OP. It's just good manners. I don't see many people offering though, so do keep it up!
