Massive arguement...who is BU. If you pay digs should you reasonably expect to keep a laundry basket in your bed

Just had one of those stupid massive arguements with DS.

IABU or is He BU?

DS 20 has had a laundry bag in his room for the last 5 years or so.

He is 'sorting' his room and has decided that he no longer wants to keep a laundry basket in his room.

His reasoning is that he wants more room and for it to looker tidier and he shouldn't have to keep it there because he is paying rent!

I've said no, it's part of life suck it up.

His solution is for me to empty the hall cupboard then move contents to the living room (steam cleaner, mop, buckets, hoover) and keep them behind the couch in the living room and give him the hall cupboard for his laundry bag/basket!!!!!!!!

Who is BU coz I'm ready to tell him to pack his belongs into his fecking laundry basket and move out

Can I live with you? I pay 525 a month for my room in a share house, and that's cheap around here! I'll even keep my laundry basket in my room Wink seriously though, he ibu. And even working 16 hours he can probably afford more than 80 a month Shock cheeky sod.

But Stealth, I'm guessing he had a laundry basket in his room before too. I don't think he's being denied use of communal areas now.

I let lodgers have use of communal rooms but they keep their laundry in their room and I keep mine in my room.

I agree with Stealth...his solution is clearly daft, but it is his family home.

You're talking about him as if he's a random lodger, not your son.

My youngest is 4 and his bedroom is the size of a small double bed ( that's bed not room!) he has a small wash basket in there that will hold at most 2 outfits and he knows he's not to let it overflow. If he can manage i'm sure a 20yo man can manage Grin

I'm sure he's not banned from the rest of the house, just his laundry basket. Fair enough.

My daughter, who lives with us during the uni breaks, has a laundry bag in her room, but she can go wherever she likes in the house.
