To think that a 40 year old man should not be buying Lynx?

Grin

DH insists that it is nice. I beg to differ. Every morning when I go into the bathroom after him, I am literally eating the stuff. It's like walking into a teenage boy's bedroom.

I've suggested alternatives like a nice bit of Old Spice or Brut Wink but he insists that Lynx is the one. It IS the one. If you're 14 and ride a chicken chaser.

BO smell or Lynx smell though? Difficult choice.

valiumredhead · 16/07/2013 12:44

Tough one sparklingGrin

Bit irrelevant but my Dad is in his seventies and has never worn any anti perspirant or deodorant. Yet he does not smell. Confused he wears a bit of Old Spice aftershave but that's it.

LadyBigtoes · 16/07/2013 12:49

DP will buy it given half a chance (he is 43) - he just wants to get in and out of the shop as fast as possible so he will walk towards the shelf and grab the nearest spray with black/masculine looking styling. I pre-empt this by giving him nice issey miyake or armani spray as presents or buying something at least a bit nicer-smelling like ted baker or fcuk along with the food shop. If I forget though, the lynx reappears.

He can't tell the difference, only I (and, it now seems, his colleagues!) can.

OnTheNingNangNong · 16/07/2013 12:51

Lynx stinks, DH had some anti perspirant mini bottled and he squirted a bit before work and it hung in the house like a vile fog. He's now taken it to work and I hope i will never have to smell it again. Horrid stuff.

BatmanLovesAllan · 16/07/2013 12:52

Ooooooh, Lynx Java. You can't get it any more Sad

YANBU, on the basis that no Lynx will ever be as good as the smell of Lynx Java on Rob in 10AR

Mamafratelli · 16/07/2013 12:52

Ltb!

Greydog · 16/07/2013 12:54

Filthy stuff - try travelling to work with a bus load of teenagers who appear to have used a can each! No wonder asthma's on the increase! Should be banned as some sort of chemical weapon!

ComposHat · 16/07/2013 12:57

lynx judt perfumes sweat and isn't an antiperspirant. I remember the scent of lynx mingled with bo as one of the abiding smells of my secondary school years.

Sparklingbrook · 16/07/2013 12:58

Aha! I thought that might be the case with Lynx Compos. So it flavours the sweat than?

sherbetpips · 16/07/2013 13:02

I remember having to say to a friend of ours that Lynx was not a deoderant (it was the body spray one) and he ahem might want to consider and anti persperant instead. Loads of people at work use it and really need to invest in something stronger.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/07/2013 13:03

Ahhh Lynx Atlantis.

I even bought my own can of it to keep the boyfriend smell topped up on his Tottenham Hotspurs scarf.

aldiwhore · 16/07/2013 13:04

DH buys anything that's on offer, he sometimes smells wonderful, other times he just smells.

NameoftheRose · 16/07/2013 13:06

I thought it was a Significant Step to maturity (and an incredible relief to me) when my youngest son decided Lynx wasn't cool. He was about 17. He mostly uses the various sporty ones although when my OH decided he didn't like his bottle of Dior's Fahrenheit my son was the best smelling sixth former in the school.

At one point I had four teenagers dousing themselves in Lynx and So!!! every morning before school. 'Smells Like Teen spirit' I used to think. Until the lack of breathable air meant I couldn't think coherent thoughts any more.

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 16/07/2013 13:06

I hate it but its the only deodorant dh (41) will wear. I have banned him from spraying in our room. The smell always wakes me.

Burmobasher · 16/07/2013 13:33

I dont think I've been out with a bloke who doesn't wear Lynx. I often wonder why the other manufacturers even bother

valiumredhead · 16/07/2013 13:38

They wear lynx to repel nits, that's why the teens don't get thenWink

valiumredhead · 16/07/2013 13:38

Them

loveliesbleeding1 · 16/07/2013 13:40

Aah good old lynx oriental, loved it so much I used it as hairspray in the early 90's .

TiggyD · 16/07/2013 13:43

It was 'Oriental' back in my day.

I'd be too scared to wear it now. Lots of ladies in bikinis running at me in slow motion. No thanks.

I believe Johnny Foreigner calls it 'Axe'.

RunRabbit · 16/07/2013 13:57
