To ask my new neighbours to...

...remove the bright green washing line they have tied to my tree, in my garden (to create their own washing line)? They didn't even ask me. I feel a bit miffed.

Does it overhang their fence?

SauvignonBlanche · 14/07/2013 11:55

Is it in your way?

pictish · 14/07/2013 11:55

Err...I dunno. Is it bothering you in any way?

WhereYouLeftIt · 14/07/2013 11:58

YANBU. I presume they just walked into your garden without your knowledge to do this? How did the previous neighbour do their washing line?

Wbdn28 · 14/07/2013 12:00

YANBU

cozietoesie · 14/07/2013 12:01

YANBU. They didn't ask you - just did it. I would stop this attitude before it starts because who knows what will come next. How long have they been living there?

LIZS · 14/07/2013 12:02

Does it overhang their garden ?

DawnOfTheDee · 14/07/2013 12:03

Depends if it overhangs their garden or not. What offends you...the fact they didn't ask permission or the fact that the washing line is bright green? Or both.....

OHforDUCKScake · 14/07/2013 12:04

YANBU it could damage the tree depending on the size.

DawnOfTheDee · 14/07/2013 12:05

Sorry...you didn't say you were offended, you said you were miffed. My above question still stands but substitute 'makes you miffed' for 'offends you'. Ta.

LoopyLooplaHoop · 14/07/2013 12:09

Come on, do you really care?

I'd be annoyed! They shouldn't by tiring anything to the trunk if a free in your garden.

Go round and ask nicely, rather than just cutting it off tho!

SerotoninCanEatTomorrow · 14/07/2013 13:22

I did something similar to the top of a fence post in a previous house - and the owner cut the line (with a full load of washing on) and put a threatening note through the door. My property had no garden so I rigged it across the parking space to dry my clothes!

In hindsight I should have asked, however he could see all of a few cm of green line wrapped around! Very unreasonable. It depends on where the line is really!

RedHelenB · 14/07/2013 13:23

Wouldn't bother me!

RedHelenB · 14/07/2013 13:26

Wouldn't bother me!

Dackyduddles · 14/07/2013 13:28

Personally I'd cut it down unless bang on boundary line.

LimitedEditionLady · 14/07/2013 13:51

I dont think id care if it was neatly tied

cocolepew · 14/07/2013 13:53

Cut it when its full of washing

Sirzy · 14/07/2013 13:55

Why does it bother you?

LimitedEditionLady · 14/07/2013 13:57

Id be happy if my neighbour had some form of wash.be neighbourly and give them somewhere to dry their washing.not hurting anyone.

DameDeepRedBetty · 14/07/2013 13:58

I'd go round in a smiley way and ask them to find a different way to hang their washing line. Even soft, smooth washing line rope can do damage to trees.

FannyFifer · 14/07/2013 14:00

Is the tree overhanging their property, fair game if so.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2013 14:08

cocolepew that was my first thought too Blush

I'm off to Hell in a Handcart , ain't I ?

cocolepew · 14/07/2013 14:13

I'll see you there 70 Grin
