To think you shouldn't sit smoke pot at a crowded family event?

Village fair type event with music and shows. Advertised as a family event. Lots of people sat on the grass knee to knee because it is sooo busy. Children EVERYWHERE. And then someone lights up and starts smoking their pot in the middle of everyone.

AIBU to think that isn't on?

Me and dh are currently working on producing the first e- spliff.
This was discussed last night when we were both feeling quite creative

Exactly as I said, its not illegal, to smoke it.
I am not in possession nor supplying. Nobody can prove you have paid anything for it. There are considerable loopholes in the law.
if they prosecuted everyone who had a spliff it would be a huge number of the population.

Bugger, we thought we'd hit on a fantastic one.
A few years (too long to remember ago) I also decided to invent a disposable toothbrush for airports etc, a sort of one use thing. Another fantastic idea when stoned.
Next day, found out it was done already.

as far as I know whether you paid for it is not relevant, I dont see how you can smoke it without it being in your possession

and yep cannabis vaporizers were around long before e-cigs, I used to use one myself (back in my 'stoner' days)

YANBU me and DH are always saying that its totally unnecessary and anti social.

Perhaps they get away with hemp oil as this isn't illegal and used to bind threads of rope, many years ago.
It does have certain elements of weed though, not cannabis obviously.
If you go to the village of Hempnall in Norfolk you can smell the hemp, especially on a really foggy damp morning. Oh tis wonderful, brings back happy memeories thinking about it. I live many miles from there now.

It was in a joint that usually means its mixed with tabacco.

And morethan yes it is illegal having any on your person (as you would have to to be smoking it) is possession,sharing a joint with someone else is supplying. That's why the police can choose to give you a warning if they catch you with it.

is that not cannabis though? Nowhere in the law does it say marijuana unless i am mistaken, and the two are completely different. I wonder how they could Police this as it grows freely. My old neighbours had a plant and I swear they didn't know what it was. I could hear the dw say to the dw won't it be nice when it flowers. It just grew there, a great big humongous weed plant

Anyway, I think that people should lighten up a bit, its summer.
Maybe the person/s smoking it were young and being a bit daring, it really won't hurt anybody else.

I have smoked weed at family events and seen dozens of parents doing this, ok perhaps not when as tightly packed as the OP suggested, but its all part of the fun of a summer event.

And yes it may be unnecessary to those who have not experienced it but so is drinking to some people. I just don't see the attraction there, it just makes me want to throw up after a couple.

Anyway, my final philosophy on the matter, God said something about the grass being free for us all, so I choose to roll mine and smoke it. He also allowed it to grow, so if its good enough for him. It also has many healing powers and is great pain relief. Lovely in stews, cakes etc.

They are used to mean the same thing. Green when it is still growing on the plant gets called a cannabis plant because that's its name ( probably also has a fancy Latin name as well I think its canabis sativa L) then you take it off to dry and smoke the bits you smoke that's when its called marijuana or green or canabis or what ever other street name you use. When they do some sciency shit to it add lots of crap and shove it up there bum to transport it it gets called canabis resin or hashish or other such street name.

Hemp from the same plant is usually used to describe the fibrous bits and the seeds that get used to make stuff like textiles.

But they all come from the same plant.

Actually, hemp and cannabis are different, but from the same family. Hemp is incredibly useful, grows quickly, requires no pesticides and is an excellent renewable resource.
Cannabis is also very useful, but can be altered to make it more potent, which doesn't agree with some users.
