Fuck me Shock

We go every december to the winter wonderland and pay about 500.

And we have more kids than you.

Xales · 06/07/2013 13:56

Not a holiday however...

It worked out cheaper to send ex to Australia for six weeks, including flights, hotels, meals etc for training than to send him 3 stops on a train for 20 minutes to Reading!

He wasn't the only one in the company went!

I just don't see how that can be possible. Crazy.

TwasBrillig · 06/07/2013 13:59

How on earth? Its over a grand a ticket to Australia or do you know something we don't?

McNewPants2013 · 06/07/2013 14:01

it eye watering amount, and no wonder people choose to go abroad.

greenfolder · 06/07/2013 14:04

We are going to landal in holland-think centerparc 15 years ago. It is costing 1200 for 10 Days plus tunnel. A 3 bedroom villa.

ClartyCarol · 06/07/2013 14:05

Xales - you really need to quote the figures because that just sounds unbelievable to be honest!

PoppyWearer · 06/07/2013 14:08

Just searched on a 2-bed basic villa at the new Woburn one for half term Oct 2014 and it's £1200 for 4 nights! Shock

That's a hefty/cynical markup compared to what we paid at Easter just gone at Elveden, which came in under £1000.

And I hate the way there is never an early-booking discount, apart from the measly CBSOON. Booking for Woburn wasn't open when I had that offer available. Angry

We could go to Disneyland Paris for that, and will probably just do the instead!

Or indeed Bluestone or CP Europe. In fact we could do CP in France AND Disneyland Paris. Now there's an idea.

Xales · 06/07/2013 14:08

Can't remember numbers as it was when I was pregnant with DS so over 12 years ago.

However I worked at the company and was the one doing the bookings so I know it was true.

Was gutted as I was 38 weeks when he was due to fly back so couldn't go.

DorothyMantooth · 06/07/2013 14:23

Bloody hell, I was horrified when I realised it would cost more to do a 4-day stay in a Forest holidays thing (accommodation only) down the road from us than a week abroad - we had foolishly thought staying in the UK would be a cheaper option. That was only £700+ for two adults and a baby in a bog standard cabin in early Aug. If I'd been quoted more than a grand for CP I think I'd have had a stroke.

fanoftheinvisibleman · 06/07/2013 14:26

Xales it is not quite the same but the first time we went transatlantic, flights from Gatwick to New York were cheaper than the cheapest train ticket available (and we exhausted EVERY possible booking method) by £50 for yorkshire to gatwick. It is ridiculous but true.

ARealDame · 06/07/2013 14:29

I just looked it up myself on their website. And the price was £2,000 for a week in August at Longleat, not £4,000. Still expensive mind. Did you have extras?

ARealDame · 06/07/2013 14:29

p.s. I paid about £120 for a 3 day weekend a few years ago, myself and my son (though we were sharing a cabin).

ARealDame · 06/07/2013 14:31

Sorry, cross post, see you corrected it to £2000.

Do you have to cook your own food.

You could camp for £70 a week nearby, probably.
