Don't get me wrong; I do know that it's hard work during the school holidays having to entertain the little ones but OMG..I am so looking foward to the lack of school run. I also work in a school so will have the summer off.
This means no ruching around in the morning frantically trying to get dd ready for school. OK; she will probably wake me at 7 still but I just wait to not have to rush anywhere! I do actually like the mums at the school gate but I won't miss having to wade through piles of school literature and making up wierd costumes etc.

Me too!
The school run is the bane of my life, and with my youngest having a December birthday, I get a whole extra school year of it. I cannot WAIT for the holidays to start Grin

Me too, I cannot wait, ths was my first year of school run hell, with a 2/3 year old and 1 year old in tow too..... Horrendous I am much more shouty than I used to be! Cannot wait for a break from it

SkinnybitchWannabe · 04/07/2013 21:53

I cannot wait for 6weeks of lazy mornings!

MyDarlingClementine · 04/07/2013 21:54

Had not thought of this but yes, going to be wonderful

Sparklingbrook · 04/07/2013 21:56

Ooh yes. No deadline, no 12 mile round trip twice a day. But quite what my 2 are planning on doing for 6 weeks I don't know.

ClartyCarol · 04/07/2013 22:00

Love the thought of no school runs; hate the fucking carnage mess created by three dc on a six week break.

NotAnotherPackedLunch · 04/07/2013 22:01

Not just no school run, but even better... no more bloody packed lunches.
Fourteen more school days to go, then six weeks of bliss.Smile

didireallysaythat · 04/07/2013 22:01

Not so much excitement here. 6 weeks of childcare to pay for, coupled with being able even later into work than I am when waiting for the school gate to open at 8:39....

I accept I'm the minority though - although I admit the reduced traffic is much appreciated !

perplexedpirate · 04/07/2013 22:02

The absolute best thing about working full time is no school run.
I just hate it, don't know why but I do.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 04/07/2013 22:04

I often feel for the working parents who have to sort out masses of extra childcare for long holidays - our town seems to be pretty well off for playschemes and holiday clubs and such like, but it must be tough in a lot of places Confused

Growlithe · 04/07/2013 22:17

6 weeks of not having to think of original comments for their reading record. Grin

5madthings · 04/07/2013 22:19

Yanbu at all, I currently walk seven bloody miles a day on the school run as our cut through is closed due to building works, I am counting down the days, I cannot bloody wait!

littlewhitebag · 04/07/2013 22:19

I love no school run. I still have to get up early to walk the dog but i can do that in my time, not with timescales imposed on me. I also have the pleasure of my lovely DD's company on my days off.

PoppyWearer · 04/07/2013 22:20

Can we start the holidays tomorrow? Never thought I would say that.

Canwecanwecanwecanwecanwe????

Elderwand · 04/07/2013 22:21

I am so with you! I cannot wait. Truly fed up with bloody pack lunches, pe bags, book bag, getting a 5 & 3 yo out of the house before 8.30.

Mintyy · 04/07/2013 22:22

Personally I prefer the 7am starts with 6 hours child-free as the payoff Smile.

fanoftheinvisibleman · 04/07/2013 22:23

Yes, me too. Ds is easy to entertain at home with dog walks every day anyway so can't wait.

holidaybug · 04/07/2013 22:23

mmm ... I quite like the extra time to myself when DC are at school ..

irregularegular · 04/07/2013 22:26

I always think that those of you who think that doing the school run is one of the toughest bits of your day must have an incredibly relaxed life. Don't you have anything more demanding to do?

I like walking the children to school and having a gossip with other parents. I quite miss it during the holidays - when I still have to work most days.

Portofino · 04/07/2013 22:26

Hmm. Dd now has 2 weeks of holiday club before we go away and they have changed the location so it is AT HER SCHOOL. Same old, same old ....

Iaintdunnuffink · 04/07/2013 22:27

Yanbu

This will be my first summer working as I usually stop for the school holidays. I won't miss the arguments and trying to think of interesting things to do that day. I will miss the the lazy mornings.

5madthings · 04/07/2013 22:31

Its not demanding its just a pita or spend three hours of my day walking to and from school. Getting five kids up and out by 8am etc, much prefer a more relaxed start to the day. We are still up but can stay in PJs and have a lazy day if we want etc. And I enjoy having them all at home, dd loves having her brothers at home as well, on school days she is always asking. If its time to 'go get my boys' :)

Taffeta · 04/07/2013 22:34

Working days PITA
Non working days bliss

noisytoys · 04/07/2013 22:34

I work nights finishing at 8am so I do the school run and go to bed I'm going to be exhausted by September with 6 weeks of no sleep Sad
