Don't get me wrong; I do know that it's hard work during the school holidays having to entertain the little ones but OMG..I am so looking foward to the lack of school run. I also work in a school so will have the summer off.
This means no ruching around in the morning frantically trying to get dd ready for school. OK; she will probably wake me at 7 still but I just wait to not have to rush anywhere! I do actually like the mums at the school gate but I won't miss having to wade through piles of school literature and making up wierd costumes etc.

I never realised how much hard work the summer term would be.

Fecking summer fair, school trips, swimming, parties galore, busy weekends, barbecues, playing in the playground after school, long days.....I'm exhausted and so are my DCs!

Iaintdunnuffink · 04/07/2013 22:36

Growlife that is a very good point :) I may be starting at 8 am but there's will be no writing in book records, spellings, homework, times tables, signing letters and giving money.

I'm with Mintyy. I love, love, love my children but they are best in small doses. It's day 5 of school holidays here and I'm already hoarse from the constant refereeing, negotiating, disciplining, pleading, bribing and yelling. I want to lie down in green pastures Confused.

Growlithe - ha, yes!

I can't wait. It was our first year of school run this year and I'm really in need of a break, and so is DS1.

We've got a few days at home to pack and then a 10 day holiday, and then a month of lazing around and a few days out when we get back. Bliss.

Ledkr · 04/07/2013 22:51

Me too. Lovely long days no schedule or strict bedtimes. Late movies with pizza on the sofa, drinking on a week night! Sitting in the garden at the end of a hot day.
I welcome the break from the after school activities too.
I might even go a whole day without driving.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/07/2013 22:56

Mintyy I'm sure that once DS2 is at school as well then I'll feel like that.
But at the moment I wrestle them both through breakfast and out of the door, and then have 6 hours of DS2 to deal with on his own. He misses his brother and is in the process of dropping his nap - the holidays will be easier!

Waimea · 04/07/2013 23:33

Can't wait
Getting a bit sick of other children and school gate politics and cliques too

Growlithe · 04/07/2013 23:37

But first iiitttttttt'sssss - finding out new teacher. Honestly, why do they have to make this like the final of the X Factor? Just tell us will you!

Fakebook · 04/07/2013 23:41

Agreed!

This was my first year of the school run, and making packed lunches. We've been more or less okay, but am shocked that after 10 months, my dd STILL doesn't know she must get her uniform on and book bag and shoes on feet. I have to shout every flipp I'm so looking forward to the summer break and won't want it to end. I'll be 30 weeks when school reopens and don't look forward to getting out of the house with a 20m old and massive bump.

Buzzardbird · 04/07/2013 23:46

We have a TEDS day tomorrow! Yippeeeee!

caramelwaffle · 04/07/2013 23:49

You are most definitely not being unreasonable.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/07/2013 23:53

Growlithe I think they just want to get it all hammered out before anyone knows, rather than it coming out in dribs and drabs and parents saying 'ooh but I wanted them to be in a class with XYZ, and not with ABC'. It must be a bloody nightmare.

We've had all that info today which is good, and still just over 2 weeks of term left.

Idreamofsunshine · 04/07/2013 23:56

Yep i agree, also wont miss the frantically making packed lunches in the morning cos i couldnt be bothered the night before

Wonderstuff · 05/07/2013 00:00

Can't wait - I'm a teacher, so school holidays = not racing round sorting out elaborate childcare. Will be lovely. AND in Sept DH is going to be working 4 days so life will be soo much easier than it is now.
