AIBU to wonder if dogs like cheese on toast?

Just opened the neighbours letter box to let them smell my cheese on toast and something grabbed it out my hand.

I think it was a dog

Is a bit cheese on toast ok for a dog?

Should I knock on their door and check it's ok for the dog to eat cheese?

I'm going to put a note through the door apologising for the cheese on toast through the letterbox and declare myself sane
In fairness, I think you may be being a little over-optimistic with that ambition. At this stage, I'd just go for 'benignly nuts' and hope for the best.

ChasingDogs · 04/07/2013 21:22

Ah, sorry. If only a corner went through then that puts a completely different spin on things. Everyone knows that's the best way to fill your neighbour's hall with the smell of cheese on toast. They should put a sign up warning people about the thieving bloody dog. It's a bit much when you can't even waft the scent of melted cheese through your neighbour's letter box.

Unreasonable gits.

you think they'd believe that from someone who has admitted to wafting cheese on toast? Let thieving sleeping dogs lie FGS!

SodaStreamy · 04/07/2013 21:26

oh no someones knocking at my door ....it's going to them isn't it

OP posts:
ChasingDogs · 04/07/2013 21:32

I think if you want to convince them you are sane you need to step away from the letter box for a bit.

nooka · 04/07/2013 21:33

I think this gives you the opportunity to let your neighbours know how much you love the smell of their cooking, but you will I am afraid sound totally nuts if you tell them you were wafting cheese on toast through their letterbox!

jellybrain · 04/07/2013 21:34

Brilliant Soda..... And for the record my dog loves cheese tooGrin

TheBookofRuth · 04/07/2013 21:41

This is actually one of the funniest things I've ever read. I'm killing myself laughing here.

Uverguv · 04/07/2013 21:44

My dog will not eat anything beginning with 'a' - apple, avocado, asparagus. She will eat aubergine, though, because she can't spell, and thinks it begins with an 'o'.

Yonididnaedaethat · 04/07/2013 21:44

OMG! this has to be the funniest thread I've read in a long time!! Grin

HappyHippyChick · 04/07/2013 21:45

ClaraOswald · 04/07/2013 21:51

Was it them Soda?

HoppinMad · 04/07/2013 21:52

OP deny EVERYTHING.

Or perhaps its the dog is dropping some food off Grin

Selks · 04/07/2013 21:53

Ha ha ha ha! Grin funniest thread for ages.

OP do come back and tell us if it was the neighbours at the door! Maybe they came to ask for your cheese on toast recipe Grin

SodaStreamy · 04/07/2013 22:00

It was her at the door .

Apparently my cheese on toast has left a stain on her oatmeal carpet

And she wants me to get her carpet cleansed! I've said 'I just liked the smell of your food and wanted to repay the favour, she shouted about cheese and carpets .

I said I'm on mumsnet .mumsnet .the forum chill and have a look.. it's mumsnet.co.uk

She waved a ladle at my and shouted 'YOUR NOT MY MUMSPET'

I feel i commited a social faux pas

ear neighbour, if you do go back in house and search out mumsnet.....this is me the women you have just waved a ladle at and complained about an oatmeal carpet

WTF is an oatmeal carpet? A carpet covered in porridge ...and if you read this then fuck you and ladle waving ways . I'll definately not be put your bins out next week

So what other foodstuffs will fit through a letterbox?

PopTart?
Quiche?

Turniptwirl · 04/07/2013 22:01

Most hilarious thread ever!

I still don't get why on earth anyone would waft food into their neighbours house so they could smell it??? And I have read the whole thing and it still makes no sense! "Your curry smells delicious but instead of complimenting you and trying to get myself invited for dinner I'm gonna make you smell my dinner"???

Dogs love cheese, or well food in general tbh, take it without the toast next time, just hurl a block of extra mature through the letter box

Turniptwirl · 04/07/2013 22:03

"I feel I committd a social faux pas"

nooka · 04/07/2013 22:04

Well cheese on toast (with Worcestershire sauce) on oatmeal coloured carpet would indeed leave a stain.

What about the dog though? Perhaps the Worcestershire sauce upset him? My dog would not let cheese on toast touch the floor Grin

SodaStreamy · 04/07/2013 22:09

So should I offer to clean her oatmeal carpet nooka ?

I don't know I'm actually out of my depth now and not sure how to respond

OP posts:
Selks · 04/07/2013 22:13

Oh dear! Cheese stain....not good. Doesn't look like she appreciated your gesture sadly. Sad

stiffstink · 04/07/2013 22:13

I have a strange sense of deja vu with this thread.

Have people wafted dairy/baked products at neighbours before?

nooka · 04/07/2013 22:15

Yes you probably should offer to clean or to pay for cleaning.
