AIBU to wonder if dogs like cheese on toast?

Just opened the neighbours letter box to let them smell my cheese on toast and something grabbed it out my hand.

I think it was a dog

Is a bit cheese on toast ok for a dog?

Should I knock on their door and check it's ok for the dog to eat cheese?

that link didnt work why were you wafting through folks letter box Confused

Branleuse · 04/07/2013 19:41

my dog wont touch wheat products

Peacocklady · 04/07/2013 19:44

Ha ha ha! Sorry that's really made me laugh. The dog will have been delighted. They always eat scraps off the street if they can. It's not an ideal diet but who can have that all the time?

edam · 04/07/2013 19:46

Is he no-carbing, Bran?

AdoraBell · 04/07/2013 19:49

One of mine is partíal To the odd cheese sarnie, but I would only offer food for smelling if I intended To allow them To eat it. I don't see the point in tormenting a dog with food.

flummoxedlummox · 04/07/2013 19:53

You only wanted them to smell it? What are you, some sort of canine torturer?

Mind you, it could of been 137 mice in a mice pyramid.

noisytoys · 04/07/2013 19:57

This is the funniest thread ever! Your neighbours must think you are bonkers Grin

SarahAndFuck · 04/07/2013 19:57

Ha, brilliant!

They'll be at your door posting you a curry before you know it.

Or, somewhere on MN a thread will be started saying "My neighbour posted cheese on toast through our letter box for our dog to eat it. Does she think we are starving the dog or something? When we went round to ask she seemed to think we'd be bringing her some of our supper in return. Should we move?"

toomuch2young · 04/07/2013 20:16

Actually crying at this thread!!
At dog training we use small amounts of cheese as a high value reward - the dog will love you, your neighbours, I suspect, are browsing right move right now!!

SodaStreamy · 04/07/2013 20:23

have knocked on their door ....they are not answering!

I'm going to be mad cheese on toast lady Sad

OP posts:
1Veryhungrycaterpillar · 04/07/2013 20:30

You nutter

1Veryhungrycaterpillar · 04/07/2013 20:31

That's a very precise number of mice Flummoxed!

ClaraOswald · 04/07/2013 20:32

That's not such a bad thing.

I have a theory though. Are you sure it was the dog that ripped it from your hand and not a child?

edam · 04/07/2013 20:32

well duh, what did you think would happen, you daftie? (But very lovely with it, I'm sure.)

ChasingDogs · 04/07/2013 20:44

But WHY did you shove cheese on toast through the letterbox?! Of course you're going to be the mad cheese on toast lady! Sane people don't shove cheese on toast through their neighbours letterboxes, either for sniffing or for the dog! Grin

Between this and the colours thread I am honestly in tears Grin But yes, the dog will probably be fine.

Now please, please tell us why you wanted to give them next door a surprise sniff of your cheese on toast!

MummyPig24 · 04/07/2013 20:53

Why. I need answers. Why?!!

DaddyPigsMistress · 04/07/2013 20:54

My dog would be thrilled!

I would think you were a compleate loon though

SodaStreamy · 04/07/2013 20:56

ChasingDogs because their Indian food always smells so good.

here

I just wanted them to smell mine and think 'oh that does smell nice.

It's not funny though, they are not answering the door ....they may think I'm mad, I just want to explain to them that I'm not mad I just want them to smell my cheese on toast because their house always smells lovely

I'm going to put a note through the door apologising for the cheese on toast through the letterbox and declare myself sane

OP posts:
ChasingDogs · 04/07/2013 21:05

Aha, a working link and the mystery is solved!

I'd leave the note if I were you, my dog can swallow a slice of cheese on toast almost whole so there's a good chance it was gone before they even noticed.

I'm trying not to laugh but putting food through your neighbours letter box so they know how nice it smells is definitely a new one!

SodaStreamy · 04/07/2013 21:14

I did not put it through! I opened the letterbox and sort of wafted the smell into their hall. There was only a corner of the cheese on toast that could actually be considered 'on their side'

I did not intend to, nor did I, post my neighbour a cheese postcard ...they were only ment to smell it

I did not expect a dog to jump up and eat it

OP posts:
GinGuzzler · 04/07/2013 21:16

Ah ha the plot thickens like flour in a cheese sauce Smile

flummoxedlummox · 04/07/2013 21:16

Fromage postage.

flummoxedlummox · 04/07/2013 21:19

1Veryhungrycaterpillar I just pictured a mouse pyramid that would reach halfway up the door and said to myself "that looks like 137 mice".

Gingersstuff · 04/07/2013 21:22

There was only a corner of the cheese on toast that could actually be considered 'on their side'
well, make sure you tell them that if they trim it off they must legally offer it back to you.
This is one of the best threads ever.
