To be shocked at what came out of my ear?

I have been deaf in one ear for about a week and a half, this has been a bit frightening and odd.

The night it happened I cleaned my ears and had a shower, I was washing my hair and the water went in but it wouldn't come out. I tried everything google suggested and then had to sleep, Apparently sometimes it clears overnight. It didn't and I felt all weird for the next few days. Then it started to get a little better until I went to the gym, had a shower and the same thing happened again!

Again it was horrible but then improved a little over the next few days until Friday, wen I had an itch in my ear at work scratched inside and out came the cotton from the cotton bud!!! Bloody hell it had been in there over a week.

Aibu for buying cheap ear cleaners from pound land? I think the answer is yes, however wibu to complain?
I'm quite shaken up although it was amazing when it came out and I could hear again!

Notalone that earwax video was brilliant. That was better than pus porn. Not sure if I was more jealous of the person having the wax removed or the person removing it.

But I think the white bits were skin rather than wax and peeling skin off is a bad idea. I had cellulitis of the pinna last year which they think was caused by dry skin in my ear coming away and allowing an infection in.

If you use your index finger and it put over the hole of your ear, wiggle it about a bit, it forms a vacume.

suck away my friends. Grin

YANBU Ears are sometimes unwitting receptacles for all manner of odd things. I can vividly remember a similar scenario and the culprit in my right ear was an aged peanut. To this day I have no idea how it got there - I was just relieved I discovered it and not the GP. Shock

I love doing the cotton buds but couldnt risk hair grips.Ive no eardrum in my left ear and i dont fancy braining myself.Im bad enough

The wax is a byproduct of the self cleaning process.

I clean the parts that can be seen - without pulling the ear lobe about To see into the ear- having grown up with Pain from my mother having a good dig around with hair pins I'm enjoying leaving the delicate parts if my ears in peace.

Last time I used cotton buds to clean my ears I ended up having to use Olive oil to soften the wax three weeks before they could syringe them. Three weeks of ear ache, half deafness and bad balance. It was horrid.
