They are the wooden type white slatted type, I need to know before I buy and do not wish to spend loads of money until I hear from a expert, thanks.

Sorry but have about 12 to buy.

Inside.

I think....

LittleBearPad · 19/06/2013 16:19

Inside if they are inside ones. Outside if they are outside ones. What do you want your windows to look like?

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 19/06/2013 16:21

Inside.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/06/2013 16:22

You can do either but I prefer inside.

LittleBearPad · 19/06/2013 16:22

Inside is nicer unless the house has shutters already.

CrowsLanding · 19/06/2013 16:22

Inside, not sure how you could be confused with this Confused

hurricanewyn · 19/06/2013 16:23

Inside

ZolaBuddleia · 19/06/2013 16:23

You mean inside the recess, I'm guessing. I think they look better inside, but if they're venetian blinds you need quite a bit of clearance when they're retracted if your window opens inwards.

GilmoursPillow · 19/06/2013 16:26

Outside here.

wehaveourlifeback · 19/06/2013 16:26

Crows I am confused as I have seen some people put the blind on the Wooden bit above the window, so was not sure.

Thank you everyone for the advice.

Inside for that sort of blind. Roman and roller blinds look ok on the outside, but the slatted type are better inside the recess.

ArbitraryUsername · 19/06/2013 16:28

We've got ours insider the window recess.

wehaveourlifeback · 19/06/2013 16:28

Yes I mean the recess Zola our windows opens away from you, and they are venetian blinds, sorry do not have a clue so thought I would ask thanks.

OP posts:
FryOneFatManic · 19/06/2013 16:29

I'd put them inside the recess.

Owllady · 19/06/2013 16:29

it depends what the window is like tbh and what other dressing you have

wehaveourlifeback · 19/06/2013 16:31

Thank you everyone, those who have them inside, did you get them measured and fitted by a company, or did you buy them and fit them yourself?

OP posts:
wehaveourlifeback · 19/06/2013 16:32

We are just having blinds at present Owllady.

eurozammo · 19/06/2013 16:32

In the recess. I think you would only put them above if you were unable to fit them in the recess for some reason.

livinginwonderland · 19/06/2013 16:33

Ours are inside, and they got fitted.

HairyWorm · 19/06/2013 16:44

Slated/venetian blinds which you can pull up and change angle of slats, go inside so you can adjust them to suit. If you mean shutters like louvre doors they can go inside or out but surely more convenient and less maintenance to have inside.

We got a quote for manufacture and fitting of wooden Venetian blinds for our bay window from a local company but was very very expensive so scrapped that idea. Struggled to find ready made in a size that would sit with the window recess. Ended up making my own cheap Roman blinds.

ArbitraryUsername · 19/06/2013 16:46

We got our blinds measured and fitted.

Geeklover · 19/06/2013 16:48

I have both.
My dining room and kitchen have my Venetian blinds outside. My bedroom and bathroom have them inside.
I couldn't afford fitted blinds so bought ready made.
I think it depends on how they sit. The ones on the outside sit perfectly fitting on the window frames so look ok. The other 2 were a perfect fit for inside.

Fookinell · 19/06/2013 16:50

We got our venetian blinds from an internet company called Blinds Depot (uk) there website tells you everything you need to know.
