To think that it is completely tedious and boring to be at home?

Hi

I'm new to this. In fact I'm not a mother, or even a wife anymore - so hope you don't mind me gatecrashing?

I normally work full time (hell I normally work at least 60 hours a week!) and now I'm stuck at home with a serious chest infection and I have absolutely no idea what to do with myself. No-one to talk to. My partner/boyfriend/whatever he is doesn't even know I'm ill because he hasn't been in touch since last Friday (and only then to tell me he was going to visit family). Haven't seen him for nearly 3 weeks anyway cos he's always so busy with work/sport.

So feeling really fed up and sorry for myself and despite the crappiness of being ill really wish I was in my office :-(

Keztrel · 19/06/2013 16:11

By the way OP, there are many many non-mothers on here, you yes you are most welcome :)

Keztrel · 19/06/2013 16:12

Gah, that was meant to say "SO you are most welcome", not "you yes you" Hmm

MrsLouisTheroux · 19/06/2013 16:12

This is how I feel when I am depressed. It's awful. Not good to take it out on others though OP :(

OnTheNingNangNong · 19/06/2013 16:14

Do you hacw any friends who are able to bring tea and sympathy neutralise the bile ?

FunnysInLaJardin · 19/06/2013 16:16

really OP, what was that all about?

Greydog · 19/06/2013 16:23

I was so happy to finish work last year - I'm never bored at home, there is always something to do - I promised myself I'd watch all the DVDs I'd never got round to when working - and I still haven't found time to! However, If you're really poorly then I suppose nothing makes you feel happy

Could you work from home OP to keep you busy perhaps? do you talk to your colleagues on email?

You do sound like you live to work from your op, perhaps you could start to work on your work life balance a little?

morticia74 · 19/06/2013 16:43

I am working, to an extent. And yes, I know. It's just so bloody hard as I don't know anyone here.

Forget that, things have moved on a bit I see!!!

cory · 19/06/2013 16:46

Was it some kind of flu-like infection? Ending with that horrible post-flu feeling where you don't feel well enough to do anything but just miserable and irritable and bored? Because that can be really, really horrible.

morticia74 · 19/06/2013 16:49

No. Just come out of hospital after having double pneumonia following an operation. Wish it was the flu. Wouldn't be signed off then!

We do delete threads that look like bunfights you know...

Keztrel · 19/06/2013 16:50

That's really shit for you OP :( I can see why you're frustrated!

Thurlow · 19/06/2013 16:54

What did I miss? I pretend to do some work for five minutes and miss all the fun...

OnTheNingNangNong · 19/06/2013 16:54

Oh that's shitty. Sad Are you well enough to sit outside for a bit. It's hard when you're somewhere and you don't know anyone. I sympathose.

madhairday · 19/06/2013 16:59

Sorry OP, double pneumonia is the pits, I had it not long ago.

However, spare a thought for those of us permanently off work ill. It's best to turn things round and try and look at things in a positive way.

Hope you feel better soon

morticia74 · 19/06/2013 17:10

Madhairday - I will. It must be awful.

morticia74 · 19/06/2013 21:37

Thank you. Hopefully will soon be back to normal!

Ignoring the irritable nature at the start of the thread! Another non-mother/wife here. There are a lot of us, every now and then somebody starts a thread calling all non-Mums and we crawl out of the woodwork Wink

Can you learn to knit/crochet or something whilst stuck at home? It gets very addictive! Or find a TV series to watch from the beginning, or film series or read a book series from start to finish.

I can't work full time any more thanks to health and spend most afternoons at home so I knit when my hands are working properly, and MN all the fucking time and play strategy games on my laptop :) really into reading atm, slowly making my way through the Game of Thrones books as I'm up to date on the series Grin
