to ask am I the only person with an imploding Hellman's mayo bottle?

New non leak bottle. No mayo leaks out, no air goes in. Bottle has imploded with half of mayo still inside. Friend said the same. Anyone else? Determined not to waste mayo so will now have to hack it open with a knife.

I have been waiting for this thread! It takes a fair while to get mayonnaise out of the bottle. Lid towards ceiling, reshape bottle, full force shaking down. Bottle is now refusing to reshape and is permanently imploded and folded in half.

There is an advert BOASTING about their fabulous new design. Cue me shouting what a shower of shit it is. Seriously , how did it get past testing.

And I thought it was my heavy handed self! Ended up scooping mayo out of bottle and will probably saw rest of bottle up to get at mayo. Hardly handy!. Back to jars I think, and will complain. Thanks op and others.

Just went to check mine, was like that, turners upside down and gave it a squeeze, heard air go in. Bottle back to normal

I'd take it back.

Ours is like this too! I thought DH had squeezed too hard!

The solution is to get a jar and spoon or knife spoonfuls of mayo into the bottle. The mayo is heavy enough to force it's way through the remaining gap and improve the squeeze, usually!

Tedious process though. Jars better value by far.

Took the drill to the lid - highly effective but bugger that for a bowl of potato salad.
I rarely change brands, and mayo = Hellman's, but we tried an own brand, it was lovely, had a squeezey bottle that is handier than a jar & is cheaper.
May well not go back to Hellmans at all even if they fix it.

I've gone back to jars. The jars are much better value for money too.

Annoyingly, the Caramelised Onion flavour only comes in squeezy bottles - but I've discovered that Heinz do this flavour too, so I've swapped to Heinz (and won't be going back as it tastes loads nicer!).

Don't have time to read the whole thread, sorry. I just wanted to add that every few uses I've been giving the bottle a good shake down to the other end, away from the cap. I've then been squeezing the sides so the air goes back in. It's been fine so far.

If I get further in and it implodes, I will update! It is a bit annoying to have a flipping high maintenance mayo bottle though.

I bought one at half term as we were on holiday and thought it would be safer to bring home than jars, also thought it might keep better than jars as we don't use much. Used it once and remembered why I never normally buy Hellman's, bland, horrible stuff. Now I have read this I might just put it in the bin and buy a jar of my usual one instead. Bye Bye Hellmans.

Me too! It's been driving me crazy. Dreadful design; after lots of unscrewing the top and reshaping the stupid, crinkly plastic I gave up entirely and threw it in the bin half full because it annoyed me so much. I was past the point of caring about the waste, I just never wanted to have to deal with the damn thing again!

Considered stopping buying Hellmann's, but just went back to jars in the end. Grumpily.

Aldi squeezable Mayo is 'Which' recommended.

Ah me too! chucked ours in the bin in a fit of anger!!! Have now been out and got a jar instead.

And me but I hate the jars so may need to swap to Sainsburys own brand :(

Yep same here, useless design I'm sticking to jars

Shake, shake, shake in downwards motion then squeeze. Never squeeze before shaking.
Bottle works perfectly to very last drop.
