To be pissed off at Pampers?

Doing my online shop and when I went to pick my nappies there was a warning that "pampers packaging is changing, please click here to find your usual nappies in their new packaging"

As far as I can tell the only change is that they have made the packs smaller while keeping the cost the same.

AIBU to be pissed off that this seems to be just be a sneaky (or not so sneaky) way of charging extra for their nappies?

Many, many manufacturers are doing this. But then I'm not at all sure that they didn't always try it if they thought they would get away with it. (Different sizing and also cheaper ingredients.)

You have to watch what you're buying like a hawk.

They've done this before, doesn't make it any less wrong-YANBU

ConfusedPixie · 09/06/2013 22:45

YANBU, they all do it though. Not that long ago cadbury's did it, 'redesigned' their chocolates whilst also shaving off a few grams! Sods. I needed those grams...

picnicbasketcase · 09/06/2013 22:46

Cathedral City has shrunk but the price has increased. Cheese fuckers.

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 09/06/2013 22:46

YANBU. I've just done my online shop and have been charge £11.99 for 45 nappies instead of £12.99 for 58. So I've saved a pound but lost 13 nappies.

pictish · 09/06/2013 22:46

Yabu not to use Lidl's nappies.

StarsAboveYou · 09/06/2013 22:50

I wondered how long it would be until someone said that pictish Grin

God - I only discovered them late on with my third child. Had I known from the beginning I would've saved £££s.

benjerriesandme · 09/06/2013 23:16

Are lidl's nappies better than Aldi's and how much are they ?

lisbethsopposite · 09/06/2013 23:20

I have a calculator on my phone for this Blush . P nappies are often on half price offers but they're not really half price when the cost per nappy is still 22-25p.
Aldi/Lidl are the way to go. About 15-16p per nappy, everyday

lisbethsopposite · 09/06/2013 23:22

Ben x posted- I think they are the same nappy, just different drawing on them. They seem identical quality to me. More papery than pampers, but I've never had a problem with skin reaction or leaking

whoopwhoopbib · 10/06/2013 07:09

Lidl nappies come up slightly bigger than the same size in Aldi. I prefer Lidl for this reason because if I bought bigger in Aldi they would leak. But if you only have an Aldi nearby they are brilliant nappies and as another poster said they have never caused any rashes.

Footface · 10/06/2013 07:30

If you don't have a lidl near you, as ds's little angels are really good. 5.97 for a big bag around 50 nappies depending on size or 2 bags for 10.00

Footface · 10/06/2013 07:30

Asda

JollyShortGiant · 10/06/2013 07:32

Cadburys did this. Bastards.

eastmidlandsnightnanny · 10/06/2013 08:20

I never paid more than 10-11p a nappy even in sz5 just buy on offer although huggies were best deal when half price.

Aldi do big boxes now in sz3,4,5 n work out 10p nappy

sainsburys own big packs when on 2 for £10 work out at 10-11p nappy

pampers expensive always needed bigger sz than other brands n were def not any better than other brands.

I always get parents i night nanny for to try all supermarket brands n find one they are happy with especially if they have twins saves them loads.

And this is why I use cloth.

EagleRiderDirk · 10/06/2013 09:10

Tesco did this earlier this year too which oddly made getting pampers from amazon cheaper than an own brand. We ended up switching to cloth bumming DS.

And DD has tesco economy pull ups, which are oddly the best ones we've found for absorbency and fit.

PearlyWhites · 10/06/2013 09:10

Op pampers are rubbish anyway since they changed their design a few years ago. Aldi nappies are much better quality and cheaper.

StormyBrid · 10/06/2013 09:11

Get them from amazon. Free delivery, and between 10p and 16p a nappy depending what flavour pampers it is.

roses2 · 10/06/2013 09:26

I buy mine from amazon too, much cheaper!

lottieandmia · 10/06/2013 09:31

Since Pampers took the absorbancy out of the backs of their nappies a few years ago they no longer work!

EagleRiderDirk · 10/06/2013 09:42

lottie that explains it. Ds was originally in some unused packs from DD. When they ran out we had to get new obviously. I thought I was going nuts that they were really good to start with then went downhill pretty quickly.

TakingTimeOut · 10/06/2013 09:42

I have to admit I've never had a problem with pampers nappies. Had no idea the packaging was changing yet again though. I buy by the box load instead of the pack as I find it works out cheaper in the long run.

Although there is one thing that annoys me about them: The bigger size up you go - the less amount of nappies. DS2 drinks a lot of water (especially when the weather is hot) so his nappies need changing a lot more.
