To be pissed off at Pampers?

Doing my online shop and when I went to pick my nappies there was a warning that "pampers packaging is changing, please click here to find your usual nappies in their new packaging"

As far as I can tell the only change is that they have made the packs smaller while keeping the cost the same.

AIBU to be pissed off that this seems to be just be a sneaky (or not so sneaky) way of charging extra for their nappies?

They still work for us :)

TokenGirl1 · 10/06/2013 13:19

I was a die hard Pampers buyer (for 3 years) until we had a faulty pack. I bought Lidl nappies for my dd and Asda for my ds (They are higher up the back and he's a big lad and his poo leaks unless he's in these).

If not for that faulty pack we'd still be buying Pampers but now I would recommend Lidl and Asda over them any day.

I always bought from Costco but then they changed the size of boxes they do and they are much more expensive so I tried Aldi and I think they are fantastic, currently have boxes for under £8, less than 8p per nappy.

By the way, am laughing at 'cheese fuckers' haha

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 10/06/2013 13:27

I have found Aldi own brand and Tesco value (about £1.40 for 22 nappies in a size 4) to be brilliant. They work well, and we have had no more nappy rash sine ditching the pampers.

ChessieFL · 10/06/2013 13:42

Another vote here for Lidl nappies - brilliant, and about £5.20 for 50!

HHH3 · 10/06/2013 13:45

I buy Just 4 Bums from Kiddicare. They're just under £20 for 180 size 3 nappies. Spend over £30 and it's free delivery so I buy 2 boxes at a time. That amount lasts 2-3 months and they also buy back any your child has grown out of.

Have never had any problems with quality, leaking or nappy rash. And as they're delivered there's no lugging nappies from the car to the flat with a baby in my arms!

We spotted this on Tesco online last night - we've just had ds2 and had forgotten how quickly you get through them with a newborn.

I also Aldi nappies. One opened near us recently and we started getting size 5s for DS1 and thought them as good as pampers if not as thin but two thirds the price. When Sainsburys did their free pack if own brand nappies promotion we tried them but they're rubbish. Tried a small pack of the Aldi newborn size and we're pleased with what they catch. Although for convenience have already committed ourself with the 3 for 2 offer at Tesco being delivered this evening I feel a mug now Sad.

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 10/06/2013 14:15

Well my 3 for 2 offer got messed up by Tesco so no good pampers deal for me :( they sent me size 2 baby dry when I ordered size 5 active fit. Wasn't a sub either, just a glitch in the system. Their print out says I ordered them and my confirmation email says I ordered size 5. I was so excited for 102 nappies for £20 and I've had to nip out and pay £6.50 for 25. I WANT A LIDL!

NaturalBaby · 10/06/2013 14:24

I get pissed off often with pretty much all the main brands.

YABU to buy Pampers in the first place!

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 10/06/2013 15:50

Amy - try the Tesco value size 5's. They are fantastic and are my nappy of choice for DS now (he is 3 and a half so only wears them at night, but they have never leaked!) and were when he was a size 4.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 10/06/2013 15:52

Tesco Value Nappies Size 5

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 10/06/2013 16:26

£1.41 for 20 nappies! Shock well I think I'll definitely be trying them next time I buy some nappies!

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 10/06/2013 16:26

Whoops forgot to say thanks Grin thanks! :)

EagleRiderDirk · 10/06/2013 16:28

amy we tried the pull ups on a recommendation and the fact they're dirt cheap. And we haven't looked back since.

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 10/06/2013 16:36

Ooh is it sad that I'm getting excited about trying them now? The money we could save! Grin

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 10/06/2013 16:38

No probs Amy - we use them on DS who has eczema. We tried them in the hope there would be less preservatives in them (that can trigger his eczema) and they were fab, so we have used them for over a year.
He has definitely road tested them fully, If you know what I mean? Wink

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 10/06/2013 16:40

Haha I do unfortunately! Grin I can't believe how cheap they are in comparison too!

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 10/06/2013 16:45

It did make me wonder why pampers cost so much?! And why I had been daft enough to use them with either of my kids!
Just think how much I could have saved - 3years of DD in pampers, 6 months with DS (then I tried Aldi, which were good, then Tesco which were good and even cheaper).
I could have had a holiday abroad!

So now to Loo Roll... lol
Home Bargains Nicky brand - good and cheaper than Andrex!

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 10/06/2013 16:51

I think I'll cry if I work out how much I've spent on nappies since dd was born Grin it must be hundreds Shock

ItsallFeegle · 10/06/2013 17:00

We bought ALDI's 'mamia' nappies for the first time last week.

48 nappies for less than 5 pounds and they are better than pampers baby dry.

I love pampers. Just because after huggies (God knows how) managed to destroy dd's arse (seriously - how?!) they have been great.

Dare not even try anything else now

having the same problem now with sunscreen
