To think these so called 'people in need' are taking the piss??

I'm on a group in Facebook which helps each other out with giving away things you no longer need, which others might. I've gave away some of my old baby things to people who have genuinely needed them. However there are some people taking the total piss on it! Just been on a wee look and today alone someone has posted
'anyone giving away an iPod? Not the shuffle one, I want one with a screen'
And-
'Anyone a laptop they don't want anymore?

AIBU to think this is not asking for help, but fully taking advantage?

One did make me laugh though- someone wrote 'anyone giving away any size 5 sandals? I only have boots and its too warm to wear them in this weather.' And someone replied 'go to primark and buy a pair of £1 flip flops!!

I've given away a PC before via one of those sites. Incidentally if you are unemployed and looking for a job then a laptop can be an absolute boon to finding one.

I would say it is essential, OH has been on agency/short term contracts for a while now and everyone expects you to apply online...even the so called 'Jobcentre'

Exactly. I'm getting several people a week through the doors wanting help as they don't have internet access and they have been told their benefits will be stopped almost immediately if they don't comply with the Universal Job Match procedure. The DWP site claims advisers consider whether a claimant has internet access when deciding to sanction but in my experience over the past few months they make no allowances whatsoever.

We had a very very old laptop and really had to get a new one as we were finding it difficult to upload CV's and stuff
