... to leave a newborn with only one bottle when he is being watched over night in someone else's home?

seriously tub of formula 1 bottle and no steriliser

WHAT THE FUCK!

Who has thrush?? The baby? One bottle overnight? No, that's not good...

Who are the parents of this baby?

AgentZigzag · 31/05/2013 22:44

I'm usually not too bad at making it up as I go along piecing an OP together with very little information, but your OP has me stumped.

What's that about thrush?

Who's leaving the baby?

Where are they leaving the baby?

Like you say, WTF?

SirBoobAlot · 31/05/2013 22:45

What the..?

AmberLeaf · 31/05/2013 22:48

Boil the bottle and teat etc.

lola88 · 31/05/2013 22:51

my sister is watching a friends baby he's just over a month old, mother has sent 1 bottle as he has thrush but nothing to sterilise the 1 bottle with so my sister is meant to wash and boil this bottle 2/3 times during the night. I have just dug out my steriliser and took 2 of DS's bottles down.

I am shocked at this all night 8 nappies 1 tub formula 1 bottle and one sleepsuit!

WTF

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 31/05/2013 22:51

Maybe they only have one bottle? Boil it or steam/microwave?

WuzzleMonkey · 31/05/2013 22:54

8 nappies seem absolutely fine to me, as does one tub of formula and one sleepsuit.

It's not one of those self-sterlilising bottles you can do in the microwave is it? I haven't used bottles for 2 years but even then we had the MAM ones which you could dismantle and individually sterilise in the micorwave without needing a steriliser..

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 31/05/2013 22:54

There's a backstory here isn't there? Being left at month old?

lola88 · 31/05/2013 22:55

nope it's not this is from lat afternoon today until early afternoon tomorrow... what if he's sich or poo's on his clothes? she's already changed him twice so 6 nappys for 14+ hours

NorthernLurker · 31/05/2013 22:56

I'm not surprised the kid's got thrush. What else has he got - and why has your sister agreed to look after him overnight? A baby that age needs his mum.

WuzzleMonkey · 31/05/2013 22:59

When you said he was 'being watched overnight' I assumed you meant this evening til tomorrow morning. That is quite a long time though.

lola88 · 31/05/2013 23:06

Back story my sisters an fool who bit off more than she could chew and the mother needs (another) night out coz she's not had a decent drink in ages (apart from 4 weeks ago when she was carried home)!

My judgy pants are giving me a wedgy!

OP posts:
AgentZigzag · 31/05/2013 23:06

Is she just inexperienced in packing what's needed for a small baby overnight?

What's she like with the baby normally?

Did you sister notice the lack of clothes/food before the mum left?

Can she go to the mums house to get more supplies?

MyLittleDiva · 31/05/2013 23:10

How old is the baby? Sounds like this women really couldn't give a shit and just want to get on the piss.

NorthernLurker · 31/05/2013 23:11

Oh dear. Well can you lend her another sleep suit at least? And tell her to grow a backbone.

lola88 · 31/05/2013 23:12

It's her 3rd baby and my sister (a whole thread in herslef) didn't seem to notice until I pointed out that he was still hungry and she went to get a bottle which wasn't there and until I asked what she planned to do if he pooped up his back... Luckily dniece has some of ds's newborn clothes for her dolls so at least the baby will have sonmething

Sorry about the spelling new phone and I are having issues

OP posts:
QuickQuickSloe · 31/05/2013 23:15

She went out on the piss a few days after giving birth? Gosh.

FatimaLovesBread · 31/05/2013 23:19

He's just over a month old and the mother got so drunk she had to be carried home a month ago?

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 31/05/2013 23:35

The way this is going I can see SS getting involved soon. Good job your sis has been around to help so far.

raisah · 01/06/2013 04:58

If your sister needs to buy extra nappies, wipes etc then make sure she gets her money back. Its not fair on the baby to sit in soiled clothes because his mum is prioritising her drinking habits over him. What about the father? Is he on the scene or did he go out with the mother as well? Looking after the baby so the parents can have a break is a kind thing to do but she shouldn't do it regularly to enable the mother to get drunk all the time.

TheRealFellatio · 01/06/2013 05:15

4 weeks ago? But...but..the baby's a month old. Confused

I'd say if the mother is prepared to leave a month old baby for almost a whole day and night in someone else's care just so she can go out on the piss then it sounds like unsterilised bottles are the least of our worries!

What about the Dad? Could he not have stayed home to give the woman a night off? don't tell me, he's not in the picture and is not the father of the other two children

TheRealFellatio · 01/06/2013 05:17

So who has the other children?

BeetleBugBaby · 01/06/2013 05:58

ss i'm guessing!

quesadilla · 01/06/2013 08:39

How close a friend is your sister to the mother? It sounds like she should be contacting social services about this, frankly. Has she raised this with the mum?
