Onesies, why is this awful craze occuring?

I can't help but thinking that Onesies are symbolic of the infantalisation of our nation (do you like what i did there?!) and should be banned for anyone over the age of three...AIBU?

My dc look absolutely gorgeous in their fleecy onesies. I was genuinely thinking of buying one for myself only today.

My DS who is 5 knows nothing of the onesie craze but asked me tonight where his pyjamas with the big long zip were because he wanted to be cosy. I'm amazed he remembers his last baby pjs/babygro from well over 2 yrs ago - but looks like I'll be getting him a onesie! It goes to show they must be comfy if he still remembers them so fondly. (I am wondering about him managing a wee in the night if he needs one - he still wore a nappy in his last onesie. Clearly the loo is a onesie issue.)

I type this while wearing my lovely onesie! Smile. No, YABU, I LOVE my onesie, I have an illness which makes me quite thin and my onesie keeps me all warm and snug. I intend getting a few more onesies (fleece ones) and love them!. They're cute!.

I've got a onesie with a...erm...'bottom flap'? so I don't have to take the top down to go to the loo. Living in a house with no central heating, it's wonderful in the winter :) Came from the All in One Company - not cheap, but very practical! I would not wear it outside the house, though.

Perhaps in a couple of years time these same people will be on here explaining why the new adult nappy craze is actually really sensible as why should you have to miss a couple of minutes of TOWIE just to have a wee!

Yes, bottom flap makes going to the loo easier! I like my onesies, I have more than one of them.

And as for infantilisation of the nation, don't we often hear the opposite too, that everyone is forced to grow up far too quickly?

I was bought a purple one for Christmas. never thought as bout it before but very comfortable, can slip it on over short nightie, skimpy PJ in morning so respectable for DC when getting them up. I only use it instead on a dressing gown and never where people can see me,

dh calls me a purple tellytubby and it is very unflattering

There was a time when someone walking around shopping centres in bed clothes would have warranted a call and them being led gently away!! Grin
I guess it looks no worse than boys traipsing around with their backsides hanging out their trousers. They look like toddlers waddling along with soggy nappies!!

I love love love me a onesie although I would never wear it out the door.

I was at a spa hotel at the weekend and the amount of women walking around in them and coming to breakfast in them was unreal I felt over dressed in skinnys and a top

I will never wear a onesie.......I am sorry, they are hideously a-sexual. I cannot imagine what it does to a person's self esteem to spend too much time in one. My husband has seen me in all sorts of horrible states but if i ever wore one of those things i am sure he would be filing for divorce. Bum Flaps!!???? I cannot believe an adult human could possible even entertain wearing anything with a bum flap! I will never dress like a giant baby..never. (although they do seem ever so slightly appealing for camping ) emigrating to France, you'd never see a French women in a onesie with a bum flap!

YABU. They are the very epitome of comfy and snuggleableness. I do not give a shiny shite if my husband doesn't think I look sexy in it (fwiw, he rather likes it and wants one for himself Grin ). Looking sexy isn't nearly as appealing as being bloody comfortable.

Don't think dh would be impressed if i bought one, vise versa. How to people get it on in them contraptions? And even if they did, surely it would be like, weird?
I think they must be comfy, although unattractive and ugly all at the same time. Only babies & toddlers look cute in them.

What's wrong with clothing being a-sexual Confused

My dds love them, they have about 15 between them. Great for getting to and from sleepovers in the winter! No need to dress at all.

I don't mind what anyone else wears, but there's no way on gods green earth that I'll be wearing an item of clothing that looks unflattering on a model. Just looked them up on line and they just looked rubbish.
