Lots of domestic violence perpetrators will fess up to 1 or 2 minor incidents or even a couple of major ones then say it had never happened before or it was due to extreme circumstances,

One bloke I was working with admitted to a one off incident blamed it on catching his partner having sex with someone else.

During the following weeks of the group it was apparent that this was not the case at all,he would pace round the room phoning his new gf lots wanting to know what she was up to and where she was.and displayed many other obvious control and isolation issues.

Its never just once DV never starts with direct violence it always starts with subtle put downs controlling behaviour isolation then moves on to more obvious ones before it turns physical.

Yanbu.

i would of blocked that person aswell. And even if it isnt as big of a reason, you can block anyone for any reason you want. at least thats what i do.

Sockreturningpixie I agree - it's never just once. And it's always the tip of the iceberg.

YANBU OP, and well done.

You don't owe him any of your time or your sympathy or your energy trying to get to the bottom of whatever problems he may have Hmm. Life is too short. Find someone genuinely nice and uncomplicated.

Why wouldn't a perpetrator of domestic violence simply deny everything - if (s)he has no criminal record or other official record relating to it?

What he might do is minimise it by calling it one isolated incident, or try to give the impression that he was a decent man and reformed character who made a mistake and then found Jesus or whatever. By admitting to one incident he scores points for being honest. This appeals to some women. So does the air of having managed to put everything behind him.

He also catches women who tend to make the diamond in the rough type of man their life's project. There are women who are attracted to project men.
