Bit of back story, I woke up yesterday with a bite-like lump on my leg, which was all red and swollen.

Overnight it's doubled in size and has an icky yellow head on it (any volunteers to pop it?) so I went to the docs and she thinks I've had an allergic reaction to a bite. Have been given some antihistamine tablets to take and some antibiotics..... They're HUGE. they're just shy (in length) of a £2 coin. And I'm petrified of taking tablets at the best of times.

So WIBU to save myself the upset and just chop my gammy leg off :(

My mum told me to do the glass bottle trick when my DH had a boil. She said that's what they did before antibiotics (although it was a milk bottle).

My DH refused and I had to leave it alone (until it spontaneously burst and I had to help empty it!).

I just sterilise needle n burst them n clean them out not pleasant makes me feel violently ill. Then cover n if its a mega gaping hole may need to see practice nurse for it to be cleaned n packed i am the boil queen my bday treat last yr was a whopping boil on my arse - i am children's nurse n after having my first one lanced n packed i have always done myself n was truely honest with the children who were admitted with whoppers about how awful lancing was but the relief after is worth it.

Well, I've been trying for 7 hours almost and the bugger isn't exploding... Have a nice piccy, although not sure if it's very clear on here, shall post in a mo. please bear in mind that it's almost triple the size of how it is in the photo seeing as it's constantly growing! I'm half expecting some worm type thing to come crawling out soon not that I've been researching the worst case scenarios on youtube

The antibiotics are Flucloxacillin, the doctor seemed to think my gammy leg is very serious and prescribed the strongest she could... My o.h also said they're probably supossitories, but no, they definitely tablets :(

Do you people know that you can watch videos of this sort of thing on youtube? And some of it's filmed under a microscope :O

I have read a number of sporn threads with great enthusiasm but this is the first i have heard of the bottle trick. How have we missed this? Also, surely MNHQ need to edit this to put Klaxon in the headline.
