I really like the names Tyrion and Daenerys.

DH wanted to call our DS Lanister (Lan for short as we have a long last name) I'm still torn about it for future child naming, not sure if its too "out there".

Saying that, I guess you could get away with something like Jon, perhaps, cos you could always pretend it was nothing to do with that Jon if his character met an embarrassing fate later on

Every time I see John Snow on the news I want to say "You know nothing Jon Snow".

Until very recently I worked in the children's ward for a local hospital. We didn't get any babies with GOT names, but we did have 2 separate babies come in called Justin (first name) Bieber (middle name) Smith/Jones. And a fair few older boys called Keanu.

My youngest is Euan. I stopped short of Ieuan,(which my welsh grandparents would have loved). So I have taken the anglicised spelling of a scottish name !

There are a lot of fab names out there in fiction.

Sorry to reanimate this thread- I was Googling something and came across it. I just wanted to say that I am expecting my 3rd son and he will be called Tyrion Phoenix, not named after GOT character but after the son of the Norse God Tyr, which Tuesday is named after (Tyr's Day),coincidentally his due date is Tuesday 18th Feb!! Check it out on Wiki- a much more interesting explaination- yes I know I will have to explain it to those who presume he is named after the character but I prefer to name him after a Norse God's son than a Nymphomaniac Dwarf...!!

Tonnes. I'm hoping it'll blow over before I have a child, I'd love to use the name Arya, it's one of the few Persian names that I really love and can be passed off as British too, but I wouldn't want the whole "Oh! After Ayra Stark?" Cool association, but no.

Brienne is a pretty name .. Nearest one to that which I once considered for my DD was Brianna,, many years ago now.

One of my DS's old teachers was called Joffrey. Everyone called him Joff.

I really don't like Daeneryses but love Khalisse.

I don't like Sansa either, but then perhaps its the association as I really don't like the character.

I would have fun naming pets after GoT characters: I quite fancy Bronn for a big sturdy guard dog.

I have a baby(15 weeks) Aria, inspired by GOT but spelt slightly differently. We also met a 1 year old Arya. This is in slightly rural Ireland so the names are really gaining popularity.

I know of someone who has just had a baby sansa.

I had a ds in the end so I'm saving Arya for any potential dd as I loves it!

What about Lann - real name (I think?) but still has a GoT connection (Lann the Clever, supposed ancestor of the Lannisters).

I think there are lots of lovely sounding names in the GoT universe but that's where the majority should stay. It's just naff to use names purely because they're in a massive hit tv show - it's obvious that it's where you got them from and they will date very quickly. I've said it before but it's like having a generation of kids called Scott and Charlene.

Khaleesi though - sounds lovely but it's a made-up title, not a name.
