To think that maxi skirts/dresses are too long for the average woman?

I'm 5'5, so I'm a bit of a short arse but not tiny (I don't think). But I can not find a maxi skirt or dress from anywhere other than the petite section that isn't at least 4 or 5 inches too long, and I'm talking dragging on the floor a fair bit too long.

I've also noticed that the bigger the size the longer they are, they seem to get longer by half an inch for every dress size.

Am I the only one who has this problem?

I'm 5'3 and have the same problem. Evening dresses come up to my head when they're hanging on the rail! I bought a whole load of maxi dresses last time I was in Asia (where women are shorter) and they fit just great. I can also sew, but if you can't it's possible to get 'non-sew hemmers' I believe.

I always find maxi skirts to short as even though I'm not tall at 5' 8" I need a 45" skirt due to a very stumpy body. Most maxi skirts seem to be 36" or 38" but if you are amazingly lucky you may find a 40". Hmm

I only have two skirts long enough and one is 12yo & one is 11yo - there is no way in hell I'm getting rid of them until they fall apart.
