To wonder why so many people spell poo as pooh on MN

Is it a joke I have missed? Is it now an alternative spelling to poo? To me 'poo' is what comes out of your bum and 'pooh' is a bear called Winnie . Someone enlighten me please!

Pooh sticks made me feel queasy as a kid I never understood where the childish 'poo' crept in, it's the spelling you see on loo walls in rough primary schools

I cannot imagine Winnie the Pooh being called Winnie the Shit/crap .

It sounds wrong so a shit is a poo.

"Poo" is the newfangled form, it was always "pooh" in my day and I am sticking with it (although "shit" is better)
