In being stunned at the price of the Playmobil Take Along House?

I have 2 DDs and we've never bought any Playmobil for them...just not really been attracted. But yesterday I saw the ad for the Take Along House and thought it looked lovely for DD aged 5...looked at the price a HUNDRED pounds! It's not massive or anything so why so expensive!?

Here it is Do you think it's worth the price?

Aww, thanks, LimeLeaff!

I think the Figures are labelled as girls and boys because the contents are female figures in the girl packets and male in the boy packets. My owner has some of both though, even though he is a boy. We need women in Playmoland too you see.

A hundred pounds?!!!! We have one and it was nowhere near that much. About 25.
Playmobil is absolutely worth every penny usually (not 100 pounds though and Mum has tons from when I was small. Whole hospital, parks, old houses everything.

We (well dd) paid £35 for the take along house. It has been worth every penny, she loves it and is so proud of having bought it herself.
Playmobil is fab and the attention to detail is excellent.

We love the attention to detail too. We had a great scene in Ruggington at the weekend - it involved a gang of unsavoury looking characters robbers armed with beer bottles, advancing towards a line of riot police. Behind the riot police was a back-upline of heavily armed knights...

Yeah both of the girl/boy varieties have some great figures that will appeal to anyone.
Our favourite is the really tall clown guy. He's also quite easy to feel through the packet too as you can pick out his long legs.

SoMuch is getting very good at feeling through the packets! We very rarely get a duplicate these days.

Daft question, but with Lego and Playmobil, are the minifigures in the packs the same size as normal Lego/Playmobil people? Or are they minier smaller?

With Playmo they are the same size (except for the clown with the long legs, and there was a short knight in one set). Not sure about Lego, as they are another species SoMuch has never bought any Lego Minifigures.

The Lego minifigures are the same size as in the regular Lego packets ie. NOT Lego Friends and NOT Duplo.

Erm...I bought an immaculate one a few weeks ago from eBay. Less than a tenner. Most definitely not worth more than £20 IMO although it is nice.

Does anyone ever glue their Playmobil together? I seem to spend a lot of time trying to put it all back together (fire stations, pirate islands) with increasingly tatty instruction books- and then there's always bits missing.

Is it just me? I don't know how people keep track of the bits.

Poppy I've thought about glueing them, but have hesitated in case I make a mess of it and because then they won't dismantle to fit back in the cupboard.
Must admit the knights castle drives me batty sometimes. Children lean over the edges to reach the bailey and gradually wall sections come away. They've also pulled a leg off the T-Rex.

I'm also quite good at feeling through the packets! Have bought a few girl characters for myself to balance all the boys ones.

Aw playmobil is great. DS got the takealong police station when it was half price in mothercare (£25 instead of £50 - although not sure if it actually ever retails at £50! We had vouchers so it was freeeeee! ) and there's a lot of play value in it. :)

We don't glue ours together (unless you count Bossy Ross's leg after Grandad stepped on him), but my owner is a dab hand at putting together buildings which come apart.

We have the take-along police station, it sees a lot of use!

Do not buy the princess castle, it drives me mad. Unless of course you have a specific playroom and an area where the castle can be set up and left.
DD1's has to be pulled out to play with and its constantly falling apart, minus balcony and other bits that come apart easily.
It was £100 for the castle alone and £15ish per room set.

The house in the op's link is always on offer in The Entertainer toy shops for £25-30, we have it and it does come with quite a few items and unlike lots of other playmobile does not take hours and hours to build.

Can anyone here remember what year DCs study Ancient Egypt in school? Itching to get the playmobil pyramid... (although TBF they would probably recognise it from a cartoon they watch anyway) :o

fuzzypig if you want the pyramid, buy it as soon as poosible because it has been out several years and I don't know how much longer you will be able to get it.

Once it's stopped being made it will treble in price. It's not sold any more in Belgium.

We haven't got it because we made our own Lego pyramid, using the normal blocks and a few Lego minifigures - Cleopatra, Pharoah and a mummy

I second that.

It's in Toysrus for £39 I grab one tbh.

My dc are 9,9 and 8 and still love their pyramid,it's one of the sets older children play with for a long time.

Rock Castle was a very good buy and is still being played with.It's so sturdy and better than some of the newer versions imvho.

Thanks for the advice. I shall tell DH that it is essential for educational purposes! :o I'm assuming toys r us have a website as there isn't one near us.

Love the idea of a Lego pyramid too, although Lego doesn't stay built for long in this house before being dismantled into something different (apart from DH's hobbit scene on top of the piano... now there was a Father's Day gift that went down well!) - I know some people superglue Lego together but surely that should be against the law

Yes there is,think there is some offer on too atm.

We got ours for a bargain from Argos who are one to watch near Christmas.One year it was the zoo half price,last year it was the pyramid.

They play all sorts with it,not just Egyptians- spies,holidays etc.

The Sylvanians have been known to holiday in Egypt!
