So today at work I came across a boy called Buster!

I've only ever heard it as a name for dogs so now I'm wondering whether I've missed something.

It wasn't said once like in a jokey way. The boy was repeatedly referred to as Buster.

jackjackmummy

I just had to check your profile as I thought we might be related,

I am related to a family who have a Buster in each generation.

jackjacksmummy · 12/05/2013 19:05

I take it we're not? Wink

Buzzardbird · 12/05/2013 19:06

Didn't Buster Gonads have unfeasible large testicles? (viz)

Buzzardbird · 12/05/2013 19:07

gonad

CheerfulYank · 12/05/2013 19:12

Not a proper name in my book, neither is Sonny. But I've heard worse.

What was Buster Keaton's real name? Incidentally I know two boys named Keaton!

CheerfulYank · 12/05/2013 19:20

It was really Joseph Frank Keaton apparently. :)

shockers · 12/05/2013 19:22

I know a Sonny!

The mental image I have of Buster is not one of slight proportion.

catgirl1976 · 12/05/2013 19:26

DSis wants to call a future DS Buster Confused

YANBU

It's for dogs

BikeRunSki · 12/05/2013 19:28

I know of someone whose middle name is Buster. Must be early 20s now. There was a child in the paper today called Zoom. He was 12, the article confirmed it was his real name. I love it!

thegreylady · 12/05/2013 19:28

I know two Sonnys [Should there be an apostrophe there?I feel there should.]

ParadiseChick · 12/05/2013 19:32

It's a cracking name!

I call ds it a lot.

dementedmumof6 · 12/05/2013 19:34

I use it as a nickname (is nothing like real name) however I know someone who called their son Stagger yes Stagger, that's the name on his birth certificate and isn't a nickname

deleted203 · 12/05/2013 19:44

Probably a nickname.

(Hope no one actually thinks I called my youngest DS 'Toad' - which is what we tend to call him)

QOD · 12/05/2013 19:51

I know a sonny as well, buster and buddy are 2 now. Cute as button, but they really are called that
Buster, luckily, is the big chunky one not the dainty one

IronyFreeAnnie · 12/05/2013 20:05

Surely the name choices of Geoge and Lucille Bluth cannot be questioned Grin

DaveMccave · 12/05/2013 20:07

I think it's an excellent name, and have just added it to my potentials list.

edam · 12/05/2013 20:11

I feel sorry for young Stagger, what's the betting he grows up to be a drunkard, or incredibly clumsy at least? (Isn't there a horse disease called 'the staggers'?)

CissyMeldrum · 12/05/2013 22:10

When I had my first ds,the mum in the bed opposite me also had a ds and called him Buster, their surname also began with B ,to this day I always think about this little boy.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 12/05/2013 22:19

Catmint · 12/05/2013 22:35

My DP is a Barney. We have some hilarious moments in parks as people summon their dogs.

milkymocha · 12/05/2013 22:36

My childrens uncle is called Buster.
Hes a traveller.
I like it!

shockers · 12/05/2013 22:38

Rufus, Jasper and Barney were all on my list for DS2, along with Toby.

DH said "NO... they are all dogs' names" Grin.

loofet · 12/05/2013 22:42

Yanbu, definitely a dogs name but then so are Barney, Max, Rufus and Bruce but people still use those Grin Could have been a nickname though 'come 'ere Buster', makes sense. Not a great real name though.

Cherriesarelovely · 12/05/2013 22:45

Funnily enough I asked DP this when she told me that one of her colleagues was thinking of calling her DS this name as it was a family name. Actually she went for Arthur in the end but I quite like it as it happens.
