ooh, I hate wasps too. In fact I was, until recent hypnotherapy treatment, utterly terrified of them. It blighted all my summers!

Actually wasps do polinate plants, so YABU. I hate them too, and we'll get rid of any nest near the house, but otherwise MEH live n let live.

Last year I tried to be nice.
I tried to open a sash window to let one out.
As I was pulling down the top half of the window, I screamed. It had flown up my sleeve, and stung me.
I hurriedly took off my upper clothes in case it was still amongst my clothes somewhere, but it had flown.
I am not inclined to be that nice to wasps ever again. Sorry.

Chances are the wasps you encounter are female. Forced in to servitude by a Queen who has simply laid the first eggs to hatch, and her drones.

oh no. The wasp was in the top corner of the window.
I was pulling the top half of the window down, holding the sides about half way down the window. It must have decidied to try and flee, and miscalculated and ended halfway down/up my sleeve.
Someone else was with me, and roared when I took my clothes off in a hurry. I didnt care. In my haste, I forgot that once it has stuck its sting in, it cant sting again can it?
I found the wasp later at the other window, looking sorry for itself.

I can kill anything in my home (other than people and pets).

I cannot justify killing something outside my home that's going about it's own business, UNLESS they pose a risk to my people or pets.

My DH has a morbid fear of wasps, he wrote a novel about it (it's actually rather good) he's not a writer, just needed to get it out (it's very sweary).

We have a few fruit trees in the back garden. Lots and lots of wasps and bitey things.

DH doesn't go into the garden from August onwards, it's the bugs' space.

DH kills wasps in the kitchen. That is DH's space.

The guy across the road has a nest in his external boiler. He is not inclined to so anything about it. We couldn't go outside in our garden for about a month last year :(

I made a home made wasp catcher which worked fairly well. I counted over 50 dead ones in it. The little fuckers shouldn't have stung my one year old.

I kill wasps if they come in my classroom. It is actually impossible to teach with a wasp in the classroom, and it's easier to kill the wasp than the children.
