I want those little bleeders dead.

Sorry. Wasp chaos today!

these work

Fuzzysnout · 02/05/2013 18:19

YABU It's a living creature (or was) and there's no need to kill them unless you are being attacked by a life-threatening swarm.

CheeseStrawWars · 02/05/2013 18:21

You know if you kill a wasp, it gives off a pheromone that summons other wasps?

Get a Waspinator - a fake nest deters other wasps. No idea if it works, but I love the idea!

VodkaJelly · 02/05/2013 18:21

Wasps are fine to kill, horrible little pests. But not bumble bees, bees's are lovely

Tinkerisdead · 02/05/2013 18:21

Sorry im with u. Kill. Kill them all swarm or no swarm. Horrible they are!

BigGreenFrog · 02/05/2013 18:26

Absolutely unreasonable. Barbaric.

StepAwayFromTheMincePies · 02/05/2013 18:28

yanbu as long as you don't leave it dead on the window ledge Smile

Dawndonna · 02/05/2013 18:29

I have had my waspinator for three years. I wouldn't be without it. Same goes for my neighbour.

fuzzypicklehead · 02/05/2013 18:29

Do they serve an environmental purpose, like pollinating something?

littlepeas · 02/05/2013 18:33

YADNBU! I am usually of the opinion that everything is entitled to its little life, but not wasps. Horrible, evil, useless things.

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 02/05/2013 18:35

YABVU. Never kill anything. I'm scared of spiders but I'd never kill one.

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 02/05/2013 18:35

Oh, except germs. You're allowed to kill those Grin

TwllBach · 02/05/2013 18:38

They.
Must.
Die.

They are the little insect embodiment of evil.

True story.

Dotty342kids · 02/05/2013 18:38

ooh, I hate wasps too. In fact I was, until recent hypnotherapy treatment, utterly terrified of them. It blighted all my summers!
Now I just merely dislike them Smile. That waspinator looks fab - does it really work?

aldiwhore · 02/05/2013 18:38

Actually wasps do polinate plants, so YABU. I hate them too, and we'll get rid of any nest near the house, but otherwise MEH live n let live.

dogsandcats · 02/05/2013 18:42

Last year I tried to be nice.
I tried to open a sash window to let one out.
As I was pulling down the top half of the window, I screamed. It had flown up my sleeve, and stung me.
I hurriedly took off my upper clothes in case it was still amongst my clothes somewhere, but it had flown.
I am not inclined to be that nice to wasps ever again. Sorry.

LazarussLozenge · 02/05/2013 18:48

If you kill it, eat it or make use of its body in some of useful way.

It has just as much reason to be alive as you.

LazarussLozenge · 02/05/2013 19:00

Also, one also has to question your feminist credentials if kill a fellow oppressed female.

Chances are the wasps you encounter are female. Forced in to servitude by a Queen who has simply laid the first eggs to hatch, and her drones.

dogsandcats... a wasp just decided to fly up your sleeve and sting you? Were you flapping at it to try and coax it through the window? Regardless of their 'reputation' they don't generally just sting for the badness of it.

There could have been confusion by both parties.

andubelievedthat · 02/05/2013 19:14

imo, everthing on the planet has a purpose, I cannot stand rats but I would not kill one ,easy to put glass over it and card underneath and set free.

dogsandcats · 02/05/2013 19:16

oh no. The wasp was in the top corner of the window.
I was pulling the top half of the window down, holding the sides about half way down the window. It must have decidied to try and flee, and miscalculated and ended halfway down/up my sleeve.
Someone else was with me, and roared when I took my clothes off in a hurry. I didnt care. In my haste, I forgot that once it has stuck its sting in, it cant sting again can it?
I found the wasp later at the other window, looking sorry for itself.

TheseFoolishThings · 02/05/2013 19:17

YABU. I am terribly afraid of wasps and other buzzy flying things. Still would never ever kill one.
And andu has it exactly right - it's very easy to get them out of the house without killing them.

aldiwhore · 02/05/2013 19:17

I can kill anything in my home (other than people and pets).

I cannot justify killing something outside my home that's going about it's own business, UNLESS they pose a risk to my people or pets.

My DH has a morbid fear of wasps, he wrote a novel about it (it's actually rather good) he's not a writer, just needed to get it out (it's very sweary).

We have a few fruit trees in the back garden. Lots and lots of wasps and bitey things.

DH doesn't go into the garden from August onwards, it's the bugs' space.

DH kills wasps in the kitchen. That is DH's space.

JollyPurpleGiant · 02/05/2013 19:18

The guy across the road has a nest in his external boiler. He is not inclined to so anything about it. We couldn't go outside in our garden for about a month last year :(

I made a home made wasp catcher which worked fairly well. I counted over 50 dead ones in it. The little fuckers shouldn't have stung my one year old.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 02/05/2013 19:21

I kill wasps if they come in my classroom. It is actually impossible to teach with a wasp in the classroom, and it's easier to kill the wasp than the children.

LadyBeagleEyes · 02/05/2013 19:26

Yes, of course I'll kill a wasp in my home.
What about flies to all who wouldn't kill anything?
Would you just let them buzz around your house landing on your food?
