AIBU?

It is absolutely fine to leave dog shit behind if you are walking in country side.

No it's fucking not Angry

There are a bajillion reasons why you should not. All bloody good ones, particularly if its farm land.

So stop you filthy fuckers. Do not tell me its ok. Because its not.

Work on the simple assumption that if you are there, other people probably will be so bag it and take it with you.

I once walked a friend's dog when she was away overnight. He had diarrhoea all over the pavement Blush and there's only so much scraping one can do. It was in uber posh North Oxford too Blush

Our local FC forest has the "bag and bin or stick flick" rule. But there are lots of fenced off bits to flick into IYSWIM and I don't think I've ever encountered a rogue dog poo. Horse manure, yes by the tonne, I reckon , and rabbit etc, but nothing carnivorous.

This debate was going on here, as out in the country ~ no paved roads, someone complained about dog poop around too. Out there, dogs can roam free, people ride their horses around and there is poop from them tooo... Part of being able to go for a country walk!!!

For me, if you walk out in the bushes, trees and on the trail away from the city, no cement anywhere to be found... it's part of country life.

I'd rather walk around horse poop/dog poop, than see the garbage people throw away tosses everywhere among the trail.

In your case...if you walk on cement paths, YES CLEAN UP!

I get Angry Angry Angry at people taking their dogs to the footpath near me for a shit.

My children use it just as a town child uses a pavement - so where's the difference?

Why do they think the countryside is one big dog toilet????

Grrrrrrr.......

I'm dreading the warm weather as our neighbours garden will start to reek with the piles of poo left all over from her dogs. she does bag and bin but not every day and in the warm weather it makes you gag

Some moronic teens a few years ago stuck a firework in the poo bin at our local park. I mean who would do that - shower shit over a wide area, total idiots.

I stick and flick in rougher terrain; scoop and bag on paths and mowed areas.

agree with anthracite - would always bag on a footpath or mowed / paved areas. But..... I do worry about the plastic bag landfill waste when I am throwing a poo bag away. in a field, woods etc, I would usually see the dog go 'off-path' exploring a significant distance before pooing, so I would leave that type of poo.

where I live in the NW there are rarely poo bins on walks in tourist-style destinations - there should definitely be more to encourage people to pick it up.

I always remember the time our dearly departed dog ate a lot of grass and did a grassy poo that hung out of his bum and I had to chase him around the countryside with a poo bag trying to grab at it, now that was grim!

Honeydragon - probably to encourage people to pick up after their dogs. I don't know of any farmers that don't regularly dose their livestock for parasites of all kinds. It's just really bad husbandry, not to mention uneconomical, to do anything else.

When I worked in a pet shop, some people wouldn't even pick it up from the aisles, let alone make us aware so we could do it! I think its the height of entitlement and laziness

We walk to school on the pavements and on a good day I yell "mind the poo" around five times during a five minute walk. We live on the edge of the woods and I can't let my kids run around due to the carpeting of shit in there. We are the last house before the woods start so no one thinks they need to clear shit up because there's not many people around. Disgusting fuckers. I thanked the street cleaner the other day because he spends his life clearing up shit.

It seems to have got worse over the last few years too. When I first got a dog pretty much everyone picked up but lately there is poo everywhere and people blatently watching their dogs crapping and then walking off leaving it. My dog likes to eat other dogs poos and then throws up in the back of the car. I really, really hate people who don't pick up. :(

When I was walking my dog the other day he stopped for a poo (as you do) so I got a bag out ready and there was an old guy walking towards us. He called out "Oh I wouldn't bother with that, just kick it under the hedge! It's what everyone else does!" so I said "Well I'm not everyone else, and I'd rather not break the law if it's all the same to you." then he did that huffy snorty thing and said "Oh fine. Suit yourself then!" Hmm

It wasn't in the countryside, it was in a town!
