She was our first woman prime-minister - a significant personal achievement, especially for the daughter of a grocer from Grantham, born in 1925 Shock

Also I agree with those that say these ceremonial occasions are something we do really well in Britain.

So AIBU to be watching this morning - in spite of disagreeing with many of her policies ? Will you be watching ?
And what do you make of both her personal achievement and her legacy ?

I thought it was flowers being thrown. Not a great idea to chuck things at horses it's true, but flowers wouldn't have been maliciously intended.

I have a tear in my eye at the Chelsea Pensioners.
Is it too early for a small sherry? i feel that's an appropriate tipple today.

skippedtheripeoldmango · 17/04/2013 10:57

x-posted with memoirs - not in protest....still bloody stupid. Horses, even well trained, can spook suddenly.

Bluebellina · 17/04/2013 10:57

Eldritch I keep gazing at the stoic navy lad in front on left of coffin. He very nervous, keeps swallowing nervously. He looks about 10Smile. Doing a super job though!

culturemulcher · 17/04/2013 10:57

landofsoap I mostly agree with you - but I still think the BBC have a duty to be non-partisan / objective. Yes, there are people clapping, but there are also people booing too.

JakeBullet · 17/04/2013 10:58

That's a lot of steps to get up with a coffin

whitewineintherain · 17/04/2013 10:58

Sorry if this is already been answered but how do they chose the coffin umm (The words gone right out of my head) carriers?

YoniMaroney · 17/04/2013 10:58

BBC says

" Back turners turn their backs. Very difficult to see them, the crowd is so thick."

So what are they supposed to do, have a special protester cam behind the hundreds of thousands of respectful mourners to catch half-a-dozen idiots?

Horsemad · 17/04/2013 10:59

Most of the so called 'protestors' weren't even born when MT was in office!

Bloody yobs!

landofsoapandglory · 17/04/2013 10:59

And we can hear them, we don't need to see them too, Culture.

Jenny70 · 17/04/2013 10:59

Thanks.

Doesn't look easy going up the steps!

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 17/04/2013 10:59

I have it on, thought they were going to drop the coffin at one point as they went up the stairs !

SkinnybitchWannabe · 17/04/2013 10:59

I don't agree with the amount its supposed to be costing but I get so proud to be british when I see the amazing ceromonies (sp?) we put on.

Chockyeggpants · 17/04/2013 10:59

St Paul's is stunning, no?

noddyholder · 17/04/2013 10:59

juneybean · 17/04/2013 10:59

cjel · 17/04/2013 10:59

We lived in a democracy last time I looked landof.
Peaceful, legitimate protest is our right.
Or would you prefer all objectors to this farce should be silenced like in North Korea?
Or 'disappeared' like her pal Pinochet did.

TomArchersSausage · 17/04/2013 11:00

Gosh I always think being a pallbearer loooks a tricky thing to do. Esp with everyone watching.

EldritchCleavage · 17/04/2013 11:00

Heaven knows, I DID NOT LIKE the woman, but there is something immature and unattractive about the idea of disrupting her funeral. I agree with whoever said upthread people should have protested when she was in office and celebrated when she left office.

Chockyeggpants · 17/04/2013 11:00

I'm loving the the protesters who weren't even born thinking they have a right to say something about MT time in power. Oh the irony...
