She was our first woman prime-minister - a significant personal achievement, especially for the daughter of a grocer from Grantham, born in 1925 Shock

Also I agree with those that say these ceremonial occasions are something we do really well in Britain.

So AIBU to be watching this morning - in spite of disagreeing with many of her policies ? Will you be watching ?
And what do you make of both her personal achievement and her legacy ?

They're flowers. But still, distracting for the horses.

Portofino · 17/04/2013 10:52

Sure I just spotted Paul Daniels

DontmindifIdo · 17/04/2013 10:53

Oh, did the BBC cut the footage at the point there was trouble then?

YoniMaroney · 17/04/2013 10:53

Flowers now, maybe other things before.

noddyholder · 17/04/2013 10:53

There is a real sense that this pomp and ceremony is all we have left. Cringe at the OTT expense and reverence while the average person who probably polished that car and swept the cathedral floor are getting shafted

I imagine a lot of would be protesters are still in bed Smile

Horsemad · 17/04/2013 10:53

London is amazing - fab architecture.

YoniMontana · 17/04/2013 10:54

Ffs some idiot was throwing things at the horses :(

EldritchCleavage · 17/04/2013 10:54

Is it wrong that the main focus of my interest is the very dashing Royal Marine with the moustache in the bearer party?

culturemulcher · 17/04/2013 10:54

Anyone else wish the BBC would give a fair representation of what's going on. They keep showing people clapping, but they don't show any of the protesters.

I know it's a funeral, etc, etc... but surely by covering a live event the BBC should show both the clapping and the booing?

MrsPeeWee · 17/04/2013 10:55

I'll be a mess too. I really do love our Queen. She will be a great loss to our country.

I don't think it'll be long before we're watching BBC again for Prince Philips funeral. I must say, himself and the Queen are looking very well.

Jenny70 · 17/04/2013 10:55

Can anyone read the note on the flowers? My telly isn't big enough!

skippedtheripeoldmango · 17/04/2013 10:55

The people throwing shit at horses won't be laughing if one loses control. Completely stupid - I understand people not liking Maggie to a point from the very little I know...but doing silly stuff like that in protest (and I realise I'm assuming that it's in protest) serves no purpose what so ever...except putting peoples' health and safety in danger....

culturemulcher · 17/04/2013 10:55

Eldritch Grin

DontmindifIdo · 17/04/2013 10:55

Eldritch - not wrong at all.

JakeBullet · 17/04/2013 10:55

Agree with you MrsRobertDuvall Grin

Sadly I suspect if there IS trouble it will come later when they have woken up!

LadyBeagleEyes · 17/04/2013 10:55

So posters are Shock at things being thrown at the horses and it turns out to be flowers from the mourners?
Grin

Horsemad · 17/04/2013 10:56

Why give them publicity culture?

culturemulcher · 17/04/2013 10:56

Jenny It says 'Dearest Mother ... Always in our hearts'

landofsoapandglory · 17/04/2013 10:56

No, I'don't culture. It is the funeral of an 87 year old lady. In my mind the time for protest was when she was in office, the time for celebration was the day she left if you didn't like her.

juneybean · 17/04/2013 10:56

Jenny its from Mark and says something like beloved mother, always in our hearts

culturemulcher · 17/04/2013 10:56

I don't think it's about giving them publicity - just fair and accurate journalism.

cjel · 17/04/2013 10:57

Dimbleby did mention booing as it happened and'disturbance with something being thrown at horses - Most of us don't want protesters to have space today. It is her funeral.
