Asked my friend last week if I could borrow her sat nav. She said yes that was fine, but I could I text her to remind her.

So this morning I text her and asked again if it would be ok, she text saying yes. I then said great, I'll come over to yours at 6.

Drive to hers at 7, knock on the door - no answer. Ring her 3 times - straight to voicemail.

Get fed up of waiting outside her house.

She finally rings me back and says sorry we went shopping and I forgot.

If I'd asked her last week then yeah of course it's easily forgotten about, but I'd literally reminded her just hours before.

you shouldn't have been late

Sorry, couldn't resist. Grin

I think that once someone has agreed to do something, then - barring accident or some other unforeseen thing - they actually are somehow obligated. They promised. You can't just promise something then go nah, don't fancy that now, it's mine, I don't have to...

That's rude.

I think she was rude and I think that if she didn't want to lend it to you, she should have just said so.

If course it wasn't great of her to forget but I'm not sure her forgetfulness makes her a crap friend in my book. By 'entitled' I just meant that it's her sat nav. She doesn't have to lend it to you so if you want it ypu'll have to forgive her forgetfulness and get her to suggest another suitable time. In the meantime have more Wine

I'm interested that various people are suggesting she webt out to deliberately avoid the OP. it's not actually that unusual to forget stuff...

..... I do on a regular basis!

No, she was unreasonable. If someone asks to borrow something and you agree then you don't 'forget' and go shopping, esp. when they've phoned to remind you!
