They don't dig their claws in you to show they love you.
They get excited when you come home
They deter burglars
They sit on your feet when you ask them to
My son isn't allergic to them
They don't hide under furniture to claw you when you walk past
They don't leave half-dead 'presents' as often
They are less likely to bugger off to the neighbours and get lost.

There's nothing funnier than a guilty looking dog (do cats do that?) so YANBU

wintertimeisfun · 16/04/2013 20:22

YABU, there is good and bad about both cats AND dogs. i don't like dogs because:
they stink as do their owners homes, bark alot driving neighbours mad, shit in the street, sniss arses, get erections, always wanting food, always needing attention, eat shit literally, blah blah blah, i could go on for fucking ages

wintertimeisfun · 16/04/2013 20:24

btw my sisters three dogs regularly kill ie birds, rabbits etc when they go walking (obviously not in the streets). not to mention there are many scary breeds belonging to brain dead types that walk around ie hackney with them often not on a lead. some are vicious bastards. i am far more likely to be scared of a dog than a cat as cats aren't capable of inflicting life threatening injuries

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 16/04/2013 20:26

Honey, we had one once who loved the perfume of either cow pats or half decomposed dead bird.

Dogs don't purr. Two of my cats are so affectionate they have been described by the neighbour who feeds when we are away as more like dogs than cats. The other one however is far more aloof and I sort of see what you mean but I'm not a teeny bit scared of cats.

notsoyoniface · 16/04/2013 20:29

YADNBU, dogs are much much better than cats.

ElphabaTheGreen · 16/04/2013 20:32

YANBU and dogs of the sausage variety are superior to any other kind of dog. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2013 20:33

There is not a list of breeds of domestic cat that are illegal to keep.

apostropheuse · 16/04/2013 20:33

YABU Cats are Supreme Beings, who are infinite in all their wisdom and perfect in every way.

They truly are perfect creatures.

YoniTrix · 16/04/2013 20:36

YABVU. Cats are far superior.

Chocs, this is (somewhat) tongue in cheek.

Whomever doesn't like chickens, they are the funniest things at times. Try taking a piece of brown bread and tearing chunks off and throwing them in, chicken wars!

Dogs would sit in my lap if they were allowed. They wipe their paws when they come in on the mat and they don't pooh at parks (we are well trained). They do shed like crazy though, especially the black lab cross.

I knew people would blame the owners.

However it came out of the dog's arse.

I don't like the owners either.

YABU they are equals in our house, currently snuggled up together on sofa.

A huge dog & a smallish cat, totally in love with each other Grin

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 16/04/2013 20:45

I don't see any of the local cat owners picking up the cat poop in my garden.

I'm actually not a cat fan and so they respond by wanting to climb over, sit on me and jump on me so I know how not-dog people feel about dogs slobbering and jumping on them.

YABVVVU!

  • My cats noseboop & snuggle me to show their love, all clawing accidental.
  • Cats get excited when I come home: they run to the front door & leap at me. Blond!cat then likes to duff up my rucksack for having taken me away from them, then sit on it as I walk up the stairs, purring madly.
  • Ok, possibly not such a burglar-deterrent, beyond possibly making them believe someone was in the house.
  • Am much less allergic to cats than dogs. And as am used to my cats, barely allerge at all to them now.
  • Again with the no-clawing. Mine don't tend to hide to jump out on me, just each other. They also like to hide just on general principles, apparently.
  • Only presents I get left are of the soft-toy variety. Which is partly cos they are agoraphobic, but...
  • My cats are almost ridiculously clingy where I'm concerned. If I'm not back by the time they expect they sit & watch for me from the front windows; if they can't get into my room in the mornings (NB having already been fed!) the meyowl for me; as soon as I am up they dash to my room to say hello; they spend as much time as possible with me etc etc... Basically, there is no risk of their deciding to move in with the neighbours. Not that my neighbours would have them, in fairness...
CreatureRetorts · 16/04/2013 20:48

I don't like cats either. But they don't poo in my garden.

I do think owners who let their dogs poo without clearing up are horrible selfish people.

3MenAndMe · 16/04/2013 20:54

Have both,still prefer my dogs...
At least I know where they are.My cats walk as pleasedin and out, many times giving me that pre-heart attack feeling, worrying that they are not at home yet...after looong hours of absence...
My dogs will be scratched, cuddled slept with all the time, cats will claw me after few minutes of stroking....
DOGS,defo...

YABVU....Cats Rule Grin

RozziRaspberry · 16/04/2013 21:57

I prefer cats when my dog is being a little bugger, like the time he managed to escape from the garden and chase a 4x4 then managed to get ahead of the car and plonk his arse in the middle of the road, started barking and refused to let the driver continue on his journey Blush

Or the time he wandered into a field sniffing out rabbits not knowing it was a cow field he was entering, once he clocked the cows he decided they looked friendly enough to try and play with until the cows chased him which resulted in my friend having to try and grab him through a barbed wire fence!!!

Another time I had bathed him in the morning so he was nice and clean for dh's return home after months away, i took him out for a walk and he decided to roll in dog shit Angry I could go on with more stories but won't.

I must be mad as dchildren and dh have convinced me to get another dog which we pick up In 3 weeks time, it might have been better if we had opted for a cat.

Best dog vs Best cat

LimitedEditionLady · 16/04/2013 22:16

Oh i actually love my dog. Like he's an old aged furry child. I just adore him. I talk to him like hes my equal I'm actually that mad that my OH laughs his head off because I'm really polite to him for example "come in now please doggy" why am i saying please to a dog? Cos he's just god damn great. He's cuddly, attentive, gentle, knows when I'm down. Sounds like a perfect bf really? Except I wouldn't want my bf to lick his privates. I'm allergic to cats and although I like watching them be daft don't really understand how to handle them.

Latara · 16/04/2013 22:29

YABU because my cat is the best; she's got gorgeous soft fluffy fur & loves to snuggle up to me all the time; she misses me when i'm out & makes me laugh when i'm not happy :)

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2013 22:30

But no pic on your profile Latara. Sad

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 16/04/2013 22:32

yeah but can your cat pick up their toys and put them away? huh?
