To tell ds1 he can walk next time he misses the bus

He can get 2 different buses. There's one waiting when school finishes or another 30 mins later. He likes to go to the library after school, gets some homework out of the way and the later bus is less crowded. But, he misses it about 4 times per half term and has done so again today.

I've told him in future I'll pick him up once per term, after that he can walk. AIBU? He's 12 and it's 3 miles. What about in winter when it's getting dark?

Well in good weather he could walk straight home rather than risk getting too engrossed in homework!

Or I second the idea of a bike.

Oh fuck! If it was, so sorry! It's hit a bit of a nerve, just in case you couldn't tell...

andubeleive you are joking right?

The person who posted that nonsense scatterposts bullshit all over the place. I just ignore it.

I think it's perfectly safe to walk home, on country lanes no but there is a pavement. So perfectly fine.

In reality I would probably pick him up if I was in the vicinity though.

collect 2x then he walks. 12 is old enough, 3 miles isn't far and it's light in the evenings and he has a phone to let you know he's OK.

Don't dish out rules about the number of times you'll pick up, just say no and make him walk if you don't want to collect him.
