I know he's got a lot of fans but is anyone else just a little bit tired of seeing/hearing David Tennant all the time?

He's on everything. adverts/voiceovers/dramas/the lot.

i even bought DC a dvd of pirates cartoon instead of an easter egg and he was on that TOO!

theres always a 'flavour of the month' where the same persons all the time on tv and radio and mags- the myclean asses, carol voderman, etc etc get their 15 mins of fame but DT....come on!

you can tell Im soooo not a fan.

as the doctor, well, he was avarage, thankfully we have the brill Matt Smith now, DCs watching 'how to train your dragon' atm on cbbc and i swear his voice is on this too!!!!!

Hes not on enough for me.
He's at the very top of my laminated 5!

maras2 · 14/04/2013 10:34

Bastards on the R4 afternoon play today

Lottashakingoinon · 14/04/2013 10:38

Right there with you Marj and what REALLY gets on my yoni tits is that I latched onto him in 1994 (yes I am THAT old!!) when he was in a fantastic drama serial called Taking Over the Asylum. I think he is ridiculously omnipresent now and NOTHING he has done imho comes close to that series and his performance in it.

Am I the only one who remembers it?

SparklyVampire · 14/04/2013 10:42

I love David Tennant, I think he's gorgeous too. But only if he does his English accent, his Scottish one grates on me for some reason.

marjproops · 14/04/2013 16:39

Hes a friend of a friend of mine and they say hes a lovely guy and never tires of kids talking about Doctor who with him.

its just the overexposure on tv/radio/mags.

i felt the same when Clare balding was on everything going last year. whoever it is, they get overexposed and you end up tired of them.

TigerSwallowtail · 14/04/2013 17:16

Yabu, I have no idea who he is so he can't be on that much

Empress77 · 14/04/2013 18:30

ooo was he in taking over the asylum?, i remember that but didnt recall David Tenant in it - guess i didnt fall for him till his dr who days. I definitely vote he should be on more, and super love his scottish accent. Its very mean to say hes on too much, he has to work. Anyone who thinks hes on too much is watching too much tv or just being mean for some reason (perhaps a secret love/lust for him).

marjproops · 14/04/2013 19:08

empress in our defence ,DC and I are housebound and have the tv on a lot (not neccessarily watching it all day, just like it on in the background) -or its the radio ads too.

and yes, of course a person has to earn a wage and work, but there are many actors out there whod like a chance, not things being given to the same person all the time.

and yes, before anyone else says it, DT is popular and prob attracts the audience, but still....(why do I never finish my sentences?!?)

the ony thing i really liked from him, apart from a few Dr Who episodes, was when he was on top gear as the star in the car. he was hilarious on that and we enjoyed it.

he'll taper off in a while and then it will be cumberband Grin or someone else for a while!

Pendeen · 14/04/2013 19:57

YANBU and he was the second worst Doctor (after Colin Baker)

Itchywoolyjumper · 14/04/2013 20:00

Empress, he was the young guy who DJ'd with Ken Stott's character. He wasn't too much to look at in those days though, he's definitely got better with age.
OP, he's not on enough for me either but if its causing you a problem I'm sure there are an army of us on here who'd take him away for as long as you'd like Grin

Theicingontop · 14/04/2013 20:11

Ratfaced pipsqueak?!

Angry
Empress77 · 14/04/2013 20:22

ooo Itchy just checked out Taking over the asylum on images & now i remember - but yes your right hes definitely aged well. I loved thats show. And I have to say hes definitely the Best Ever Doctor, I dont even watch the others its only David Tenant that can do the doctor properly. Hes awesome. And should be on tv more. I might have to get into tv if hes really on it that much.

CruCru · 14/04/2013 20:30

I like him. But apart from that, the poor man is an actor. They have to take work when they get it. Even quite well known actors have fallow periods (think they call it reading).

He can probably remember not being able to find enough work and wants to sock enough aside for when he isn't in so much demand.

marjproops · 14/04/2013 20:33

empress theres about 6 of him on that flippin virgin advert!

just come on AGAIN! whatever channel we put on hes following us!

even DCs just gone 'aaaarrrrggghhhh!' and she LIKES him!

OP posts:
Empress77 · 14/04/2013 20:55

ah I havent seen the virgin advert - 6 David Tenants!? nice. I bagsie one.At least.

specialsubject · 14/04/2013 21:00

DT is the 'promoted fanboy' who wanted to be an actor as a kid so he could be Doctor Who. And did it.

and then married the girl who was the Doctor's daughter and played the Doctor's daughter. And they had a daughter...

Sometimes real life is just brilliant. Good luck to him. As CruCru says, actors who are flavour of the month have to make the most of it. Although I think the break between jobs is called 'resting'.

MavisGrind · 14/04/2013 22:07

I'm another that remembered him in Takin Over the Asylum (I, too, am that old) At the time he competed in my affections with Ken Stott Hmm.

I've got tickets to see DT in Richard II later this year. I'm trying to convince people I'm really interested in Shakespeare..

marjproops · 16/04/2013 20:29

AAAARRRGGGHHH! and again! on the cover of radio times this week now! hes heard about this thread and now hes doing it on purpose Grin.

having said all that DC and I quite happily watched 'school reunion' today on watch without a quibble.

OP posts:
thermalsinapril · 16/04/2013 20:47

I know, Radio Times again as if there weren't any other actors out there!

Anyone else noticed Joan Bakewell is suddenly appearing everywhere at the moment too? And Olivia Colman.

marjproops · 16/04/2013 21:47

Yes they are too.

OP posts:
Darkesteyes · 16/04/2013 22:18

I like David Tennant but i looovvve Samuel West and would be happy if i saw him on TV half as much as we see David.
DT is in a new drama "The Politicians Husband" starting on BBC2 next week.
Anyone remember The Politicians Wife (Trevor Eve Juliet Stevenson) Politicians Husband is by the same writer.
I really like Olivia Colman. Hope i see her in more dramas.

marjproops · 18/04/2013 17:40

I may just start another thread along the same lines and replace now the Tennant name with Beckham!!!!

just as bad....no, worse.

OP posts:
sukysue · 18/04/2013 19:12

yabu defo he is lovely and a brilliant actor!

SamuelWestsMistress · 18/04/2013 19:38

It's his birthday today.

You know that you're never supposed to be more than 7ft away from a rat? Well I think you're never more than 7 minutes away from seeing DT on TV!

Pendeen · 18/04/2013 23:34

On reflection, perhaps Tennant was the worst Doctor.

At least Colin Baker (in his prime) was good looking!
