to think you need designer shoes before you call yourself shoe obsessed?

(not sure if I've worded it right)

My friend constantly boasts about her huge shoe collection. Boasting 100+ pairs - writing blogs about it too.

Saw it today (exciting times I know) and these 100 pairs consist of a majority of Primark shoes, flip flops, etc

Aibu to think if you were shoe obsessed and consider yourself an expert you would be wearing Jimmy Choo, Louboutins, Manolo's etc.

Who is the blog aimed at?

Is it a sort of fashion on a budget blog?

I love shoes but I'm also tight so enjoy ferreting around for bargains

VelvetSpoon · 11/04/2013 19:23

I can see what you're saying BUT I love shoes. And clothes. And bags.

However I am also tight thrifty. And part of what I love about all the things I own (50+ pairs of shoes, 30 odd bags, I wouldn't know where to start with clothes) is that none of them were extravagant or expensive, most were cheap-ish and some were incredible bargains. Whilst I would love a hugely expensive pair of shoes, I could never justify the expense to myself.

YANBU :o

I bet they're not all from Primark, you're just saying that. Does she have some other brands?

I say to people that although I'm not a girly girl, I love shoes. But I don't have any designer brands. I think some Fly London shoes and Clarks boots are my most expensive. I have what to me is a lot of boots, so I might jokingly say I'm obsessed (ie the bloke I work with has one pair of boots, I have about 6 pairs of black boots alone so in his eyes I'm obsessed, but none are all that expensive). There's a lot of fun to be had with 'minor' brands from Fly to Rocket Dog to Cat or Irregular Choice.

If she enjoys it and runs a fashion blog focused on shoes, leave her to it. Just ignore the links she sends and say you aren't as into shoes as her.

My ds was obsessed with trains when he was little, yet all he had were Thomas the Tank Engine trains and a Fisher Price train, not one single real steam engine.
Same thing with dinosaurs, he had dozens of toy ones, but not one single real dinosaur.
;P

I love shoes (though not to the extent of blogging about them) but sadly I don't have a Jimmy Choo income, let alone a Louboutain one (or however you spell it!).

StupidFlanders · 12/04/2013 05:37

Yanbu. I'd expect the same as you!

Sailormercury · 12/04/2013 06:06

Perhaps she doesn't like brands like Jimmy Choo and the like? I can see where you coming from but I think YABU she can collect what she likes.

I love shoes but I'm into Babycham, Doc Martins, Iron fist and Birkenstocks.
