to think you need designer shoes before you call yourself shoe obsessed?

(not sure if I've worded it right)

My friend constantly boasts about her huge shoe collection. Boasting 100+ pairs - writing blogs about it too.

Saw it today (exciting times I know) and these 100 pairs consist of a majority of Primark shoes, flip flops, etc

Aibu to think if you were shoe obsessed and consider yourself an expert you would be wearing Jimmy Choo, Louboutins, Manolo's etc.

Your friend does sound shoe obsessed. I don't think the phrase 'obsessed' equates to 'expert' or 'an authority' though.

pictish · 11/04/2013 16:33

Yabu and your logic to this is rather dicey.

noddyholder · 11/04/2013 16:34

I have about 70 pairs Shock

I have multiple pairs exactly the same... so that I never run out.

My husband thinks it's obssession, I think it's eminently sensible. :)

NewStartinSpring · 11/04/2013 16:48

Is this going as you planned?!

Of course.

I posted in AIBU, so obviously I was unsure as to whether I am being unreasonable or not.

People have either agreed or disagreed.

I know it's a shame for you that I'm not one of those posters that expects everyone to agree with them, and then flounce when that doesn't happen.

The only part I have found ridiculous is that you are unable to put across with opinion without having to swear and name call.

I don't have that many shoes. 100 seems alot. Why do you have a 100 anyway? Because i am very hard on my shoes and then they look scabby whether they are expensive or cheap. So have to be thrown away.

I think it is all relative. I'm obessed about shoes but not to that extent too but none of them are posher than Clarkes.

MissyMooandherBeaverofSteel · 11/04/2013 17:11

You can speak with some authority on a subject without actually experiencing the higher end of the scale yourself though. I love shoes and probably have about 100-150 pairs although no proper designer ones, but I could speak about them because I look at the websites and know whats new, whats selling, whats popular etc.

Does she really write a blog about her shoes? Thats....extreme Confused

HullMum · 11/04/2013 17:16

I think mocking a friend is twattish behavior.

HullMum · 11/04/2013 17:17

oh and what does obsession have to with designer?

Yes, it's more what shoes she's wearing today and how they match her outfit.

What shoes she will be buying next or planning to wear on a night out etc.

I seen a couple of blogs like that. But I not a huge fan of blogs at the best of times though, so perhaps I'm being too harsh.

I just think if I was going to for example do a blog about cars, then yes perhaps you would expect a mixture of say Porsche and vintage cars. Not just a blog about a Ford Focus. (can you tell I know nothing about cars Grin)

I am going to buck the trend here.....

If someone was that shoe obessessed I would at least expect ONE pair of Laboutin, Gina or Jimmy Choo, no?

as they are "vintage" non?

OP, some thioyughts best not aired on MN Grin

fromparistoberlin · 11/04/2013 17:26

and yes if your shoe collection is so marvellous you want people to read a blog, some quality items would...add to it?

a shoe blog thats 100% primani, LUV it

runs away...

HullMum · 11/04/2013 17:31

it's just a fashion blog, people can like thinks and how they match other things regardless of the price surely? also cheap stores are more current and change their styles frequently, a lot of designer is more of ac classic look isn't it?

a lot if fashion shows and blogs are just for three high street now

HullMum · 11/04/2013 17:32

hulldads yoni massage thread in style and beauty

MissyMooandherBeaverofSteel · 11/04/2013 17:34

Based on the fact she thinks her daily shoe choices are worth blogging about I think she has earned the 'obsessed' title Grin

DeskPlanner · 11/04/2013 18:02

YABU.

NewStartinSpring · 11/04/2013 19:07

Yeah ... that's my point.

I just can't see being shoe crazy and excited over daily blogs of shoes - either from Primark or New Look.

I'm not saying everything has to do designer just you probably would expect one pair.

Haha Grin I'm slowly learning that.

I kind of agree with your sentiment, but then I am atrocious.

Gunznroses · 11/04/2013 19:18

Are you sure they're all from Primark ? i didn't even know you could get up 100 different styles from Primark Hmm

She is obsessed and YABU!
