what historical difference did it make Grin it was imperialist flag waving at it's worst but oh well 1000 lives don't matter it's ONLY 1000 and not all British

I didn't support Blair either btw

She will not be missed by anyone I know or care about

quoteunquote · 08/04/2013 14:03

well if they lay a dance floor on her grave it will save a lot of time,

State funeral, really ? Only if you want a riot.

I wouldn't be surprised if she arranged to die today to take the latest Tory cuts off the headlines Wink

Yes, I think you are being unreasonable.. I think she's the last real PM with any backbone and conviction this country has had. Just look at the wimps we have in power at the moment :/

Astley · 08/04/2013 14:16

I think anyone who takes pleasure in the death of another person is a pretty disturbed individual.

Maybe some people need to take responsibility for their own lives rather than continuing to blame someone who left office 20 years ago for any/every problem they have.

MrsBW · 08/04/2013 14:22

Would the people criticising her over the Falklands rather we just left them to defend themselves?

Would the same be true if someone invaded Wales or Scotland?

Not really answering the question.

Should we have just left a part of Britain to defend itself against invasion?

Ullena · 08/04/2013 17:31

I'm mourning her, although very glad she is no longer suffering. Great lady. RIP Maggie Flowers

EuroShaggleton · 08/04/2013 18:07

I do not believe there has been any suggestion that she would have a state funeral. The e-petitions against one are thus somewhat pointless.

Thatchers legacy still hangs over us today.

Housing crisis to name one. She created that.

Kithulu · 08/04/2013 18:35

Ok well she is not getting a state funeral.
She IS having a ceremonial one.
Olny difference being she wont lie in state.
Still a big deal -still in St Pauls same as Di.
My DH just told me the Jimmy S and Maggie T joke. Not sharing that one here though!!

Kithulu · 08/04/2013 18:40

She is quoted as saying 'No Sanctions - Nelson Mandela is a terrorist'

CanAnybodyMakeSenseofThis · 08/04/2013 18:42

The title of this thread is bloody hilarious!

DreamsTurnToGoldDust · 08/04/2013 19:11

I thought the title was very apt for Thatcher aswell Grin

beals692 · 08/04/2013 19:29

did you celebrate the death of Saddam Hussein? Or Bin Laden?

The UK didn't hold a ceremonial funeral for Hussein and Bin Laden. If the family were just having a private funeral service then I could understand the requests to leave it alone. However: 1) the British public are being forced to pay for a lavish public funeral out of our taxes - and at a time when we're being told that there isn't enough money for public services, 2) Whether it's called a state funeral or not, it is one funded by the state on behalf of the people of Britain ie it is a public event being held by our country. A public event should be something that brings people together but I would be ashamed to have a celebration of this awful person taking place 'in my name' as part of the British public.

Maybe this comes from living 'up north' but no one I've spoken today was sorry to hear the news (some quite the opposite) and I can't think of anyone I know who would shed any tears over her - so an official funeral (however, it is packaged) just does not represent the feelings of a lot of people in this country and is an affront both because it ignores the suffering she caused and because it is a lavish expense from tax payers' money at a time when we are being told there is no money for key services.

mrsjay · 08/04/2013 19:31

The only other PM to have a state funeral was Churchill, she does not deserve one.

that really yes she should have a private funeral why would she have a state funeral I am not sure if it is true she demanded 1 when she was in power,

mrsjay · 08/04/2013 19:37

I have just read she is to get a ceremonial funeral sigh ok then Confused

redlac · 08/04/2013 19:54

one final fuck you to all the people she shafted - pay for my funeral ya bunch of plebs!
