Quote - 95% of these god awful spellings are nothing to do with dyslexia and everything to do with people being lazy.

The one that's been yanking my chain recently is, "Nobody's perfect, but if you come from Yorkshire your pretty close".

Aargh!!

Good god Oliver, your ILs are certainly not representative of the many Northerners I know, me included. That is just bizarre!

Hmm

All those helpful links , with so much information and yet none of it could possible be of relevance to this thread.

everything to do with people being lazy

Just like those who go around choosing to be ill informed because bullying is more fun.

I hate the judgement on poor spellers, and I'm sad that someone would "unfriend" a person that had poor spelling and grammar.
Really?

get a grip quote - the OP is clearly not trying to instigate bullying people with dyslexia but commenting on her irrtation caused by how some people choose to spell when using social media.

And I think it is pretty pathetic that people can't comment on this without being immeadiately shot down for apparently being insensitive to people with dyslexia.

Meh, it's only FB.

Who gives a toss.

I'm pretty sure that the use of "ryt", "m8", "innit" etc isn't a symptom of dyslexia...

Im in a fb group at the moment with someone who keeps spelling can't as carnt.

Argh!

OP wasn't referring to text speak Black, just apparent spelling mistakes.

Keepcalm, "piece and quite" doesn't appear to be a choice of spelling on social media. It's incorrect spelling surely?

The OP opened with pointing out that her friend on facebook miss spelt a word,

Please read the helpful links above on bulling and dyslexia . People with dyslexia have their lives made miserable by others constantly making fun of their struggle with words, some commit suicide.

sorry to point out your fun is bullying, if that is pathetic well then I am happy to be pathetic, I tried to just give some information that if read might of given am intelligent person a chance to rethink their attitude, and implement in their actions, quite an interesting response to that really.

I would be very interested to know what the OP's friend who made the mistake on her post said in return when the OP, told her that her spelling made her feel itchy!!

Just seen this on facebook -

"We done are's & the kids have"

this was a reply to someone betting on the national later!

I second the iPad/iPhone autocorrect theory. It randomly changes correctly spelt words into something completely different, drives me loopy!

My cousin is like this. It is laziness and trying to be trendy and down with the kids I think. Nothing whatsoever to do with dyslexia.

Lazy typists are completely different from someone who is dyslexic.

No one can say gawjus is the result of anything other than the typist being a twat.

iPhone keyboard, autocorrect, stupid little text boxes, rushing and being dyslexic are a truly awful combination as all the presents who know doubt want to hide Startail's posts already know.

Please do not judge we do not do it to annoy, we wish MNHQ would let us have a five min edit.

There is, however a special place in hell for people with modern phones which predictive text, who still write g8 and 2day etc.

My best friend is the worst, I constantly wind her up about it but it was rather hilarious the other day when she put on her facebook "I carnt beleave my little girl is so cleaver I am so proad of her"
I just replied I hope she can spell better than her mum then!!

She is an intelligent woman that does a very important job too, I have no idea what they make of it at work! And she isn't dyslexic either!

I've got a few friends who do this, drives me bonkers it's laziness with them they're great lassies but i try not to read too many of their statuseseses Wink

My spelling is alright most of the time but my grammar is terrible. Plus my fat pregnant fingers do typos on my phone aaaall the time it's very annoying.

My mum is dyslexic and she only muddles certain letters rather than full sentences of text speak/lazy typing.
