to be worried about Universal Credit

idiuntno57 · 23/03/2013 20:21

I am in the lucky position of not needing to claim this but I am so worried about its implementation.

Its coming in in the Autumn and is going to be an online only, monthly, postdated payment. It will be paid to one adult in the family unit.

All well and did if you are god at managing your money, internet literate and in a stable relationship. But in the real world....

How are the most vulnerable in society going to have a chance with this?

Already the council tax changes are coming in and as far as I understand people are confused and shell shocked by it. UC is much bigger and no one is prepared.

i agree darkest

Oh god no don't admit you receive benefits if you go on MSE. No matter what you post about they will turn back to that. Very odd to watch/read.

FasterStronger · 24/03/2013 21:35

booy - you are seeing this as a moral topic. I am seeing it practically. if you save, your finances will be more robust.

if you buy stuff on credit, you will have to pay for it in the future. it is a free country. people get to choose.

if someone has had a financial crisis, that has happened. its nothing to do with what someone else says.

trustissues75 · 24/03/2013 21:36

Anyway, those who sit in judgement and have a very narrow view of the world aren't going to change...so, back to constructive talk..anyone else got any ideas to live more frugally? turn a few extra (legal) pounds?

Booyhoo · 24/03/2013 21:36

oh, my agreeing with darkest post was WRT the MSE website forum.

crashdoll · 24/03/2013 21:37

I'm not in debt thanks Faster. I have a nice lump of money in my bank account. I am very fortunate, not everyone is. Unlike you, I can recognise that good luck and a financially supportive family have helped me reach the position I am in.

Darkesteyes · 24/03/2013 21:37

Oh i thought you were agreeing with me that Faster is gaslighting.

trustissues75 · 24/03/2013 21:38

"If someone has had a financial crisis, that hat happened. It's nothing to do with what someone else says."

Would you please clarify exactly what you mean here, Faster?

Booyhoo · 24/03/2013 21:39

"booy - you are seeing this as a moral topic. I am seeing it practically. if you save, your finances will be more robust."

thanks for telling me what i am thinking Hmm (you are wrong though Wink)

can you tell me how practical you can be with zero pounds and zero pence to turn that into savings so that when you break your neck you will still eat, have warm water to wash in and a roof to sleep under?

FasterStronger · 24/03/2013 21:40

trust - if someone has signed up for contracts or has a credit card and looses that job and cannot keep up their payments, they have had a financial crisis.

Booyhoo · 24/03/2013 21:40

i agree about that aswell darkest but i xposted and wanted to clarify which of your posts i was referring to.

KatieScarlett2833 · 24/03/2013 21:40

You make sure you have a cheap mobile Booey, durr!

trustissues75 · 24/03/2013 21:43

And those that have been debt free and end up in a financial crisis, faster? Do you stand in judgement against them too?

Booyhoo · 24/03/2013 21:44

i cant help it, im so shallow i need the Banana zPhone.

trustissues75 · 24/03/2013 21:44

Oh and I agree, faster is gaslighting - it's like having a conversation with my lovely Ex...

FasterStronger · 24/03/2013 21:45

look just carry on as you are. you are obviously going to.

you pump money into the economy. someone will make money out of you.

KatieScarlett2833 · 24/03/2013 21:47

Eh?

FasterStronger · 24/03/2013 21:48

credit is how wealth is transferred from people on low incomes to the wealthy. but blah on about me gaslighting why don't you!

ReturnOfEmeraldGreen · 24/03/2013 21:48

^yr post makes no sense, Faster Confused

wannabeEostregoddess · 24/03/2013 21:48
Hmm
Booyhoo · 24/03/2013 21:48

how do you know i'm not the one making money out of all the banana addicts?

FasterStronger · 24/03/2013 21:50

credit is how money is transferred from people on low incomes to the wealthy. but blah on about me gas lighting why don't you!

wannabeEostregoddess · 24/03/2013 21:50

No faster. WORKFARE is how wealth is transferred. And privatising the NHS. And keeping NMW low and profits high.

Credit is necessary in a lot of cases. Our economy needs it.

trustissues75 · 24/03/2013 21:50

who is pumping more money into the economy - there are SEVERAL of us on here who are telling you we were debt free/had savings etc and yet something happened that left us reliant on benefits....you ARE NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGING THAT YOUR VIEWPOINT OF BEING DEBT FREE MEANS YOU WON'T END UP IN THAT STATE!!!!

IneedAsockamnesty · 24/03/2013 21:50

So only having a cheap pay as you go mobile phone will solve all your money related problems.

With such genius I'm surprised you haven't been snapped up to run the country.
