To not dress toddler in pjs before nap time?

A friend does this. I have never thought to do it, although I don't let him sleep in a hoodie. What is most common?

Mine slept in what he was wearing. Still does, when he naps.

wreckedone · 18/03/2013 11:44

Mine sleeps in what he's wearing. Minus hoodie if he's been wearing a hoodie. And minus shoes.

Pandemoniaa · 18/03/2013 11:45

I never did this with my dcs when they were toddlers. Dgd is now 2.3 and doesn't nap regularly but for sure, the quickest way to interrupt a well-needed snooze would be to insist on her putting her pjs on first. Seems a lot of effort, for no great purpose.

TheUnsinkableTitanic · 18/03/2013 11:45

what, people get them dressed in the morning lol

only joking - kinda :) having a pj day with all DC

mine slept in what they were wearing

FatimaLovesBread · 18/03/2013 11:45

We have nap time in normal clothes. She'd be forever getting changed otherwise and she hates getting dressed so I can't imagine if have a very happy baby.
How old is friends DC?

MortifiedAdams · 18/03/2013 11:45

Your friend is odd! Dd is 15mo and all I do is take off her shoes (if she had them on). If she wakes really early and I get the impression she will be back down for a nap.in 1.5hrs or so, I might leave her in her pjs but usually thats down to the rattiness not the sleeping in what element.

adeucalione · 18/03/2013 11:46

None of mine got changed for naps. When they were babies I always tried to differentiate between daytime naps and proper night-time sleep (I think I probably read somewhere that this was a good idea!) so I didn't get them changed or close the curtains or keep the household noise down during the day.

FatimaLovesBread · 18/03/2013 11:47

Sorry just realised you said toddler.
I won't be doing this, far too much hassle Smile

mrsjay · 18/03/2013 11:47

really PJs for a nap your friend has way to much time on their hands Grin I used to take jumpers and fleeces off if they were going to bed and leave them to it

bedmonster · 18/03/2013 11:49

Your friend is bonkers!! I don't change into my pjs when i have a daytime nap Wink

freddiefrog · 18/03/2013 11:49

Neither of mine got changed into pjs for naps

I removed jumpers or anything to warm, but never got them fully changed

Fakebook · 18/03/2013 11:52

No way. What a load of bother for nothing. I take off his socks and jumper and bung him in his cot with his comfort cloth.

reneaa2 · 18/03/2013 11:52

Friends toddler is just over 2. She said she does it to wind him down for nap time. I had never thought of doing it.

It's enough effort to change DS2 from a a yoghurt and tomato stained t-shirt into another clean one! Let alone for it to be pj's!

sjupes · 18/03/2013 12:24

If DS still looks tired he'll stay in his jams otherwise nap times i take of jumpers shoes and bottoms so he sleeps in nappy vest and t-shirt but he's a sweaty baby gets it from me so it's easier for him to sleep with less on.

WorriedMummy73 · 18/03/2013 12:25

Mmmmmm, daytime nap - I'm currently considering this myself! :)

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 18/03/2013 12:26

What a waste of time! Also am I the only one that finds dressing a toddler/wriggly baby hard enough as it is without adding 2 more times into the day? Also what if theyre out and about and its nap time? does this lady change her toddler's clothes then as well?!

OhTheConfusion · 18/03/2013 12:26

I think it would wind my daughter up, not down.

lynniep · 18/03/2013 12:30

never occured to me when they napped. hard enough getting them to go to sleep without worrying about clothing!

kinkyfuckery · 18/03/2013 12:31

If it's what works best for them, then there's no harm.

Never done it here though. But my DD2 stopped napping at 15 months Angry

5madthings · 18/03/2013 12:32

I do this. My dd is 26mths and i have generally always done it, purely because if she is wearing jeans for example i dont think rhey would be comfy to sleep in. If she has leggings and a long sleeved top i would just leave her in thar. But if she us wearing a dress or jeans etc i change her. I change her nappy before naptime anyway so changing her trousers etc is no bother. It does mean that depending on when she wakes she comes on the school run in her pj's but with a coat on it just looks like she is wearing leggings and it doesnt matter anyway.

5madthings · 18/03/2013 12:34

If we are out and about then she just sleeps in the pushchair as she is but she will only have a catnap of 20mins to half an hour. At home i put her to bed and she sleeps for an hour and a half to two hours. Tho she is trying to drop her nap :(

AWimbaWay · 18/03/2013 12:37

Mine just wear whatever they fall asleep in, which could be wellies and a raincoat if I've transferred from pushchair or the car.

OzmaofOz · 18/03/2013 12:37

Jeepers no, I am too lazy for that.

AWimbaWay · 18/03/2013 12:38

Just noticed it's you 5mad, Dd2 has decided to drop naps most days now too, if she does nap it's normally just for the school run in the pushchair at 3pm Sad, it is most upsetting isn't it?
