A friend does this. I have never thought to do it, although I don't let him sleep in a hoodie. What is most common?

I always changed DD for naps and DS is almost 2 and I would never put him to sleep in jeans - there's no way I'd be comfy sleeping in a pair,.or a jumper so I won't expect him to.

I strip him down to his top/t shirt and he goes in a grobag. It's hardly a load of work to put their trousers back.on after their nap - surely you'd change their nappy then anyway?

AdoraBell · 18/03/2013 12:47

I only ever changed their clothes for a nap if sodden/caked in food post lunch. Admittedly that meant I frequently changed their clothes, but I would have done so even if they didn't nap. Can't see the point of faffing around with PJs for a nap.

5madthings · 18/03/2013 12:47

Yes wimba its very traumatic, i NEED her to have that nap!! She is just having lunch and i said it would be naptime soon so she is now having a tantrum..

My problem with school run naps is that by the time dd falls asleep we are almost at school and then she wakes up when all the children come out into the pkayground.

She can go the whole day without a nap but geys grumpy and for some reason sge will then wake in the night! She gets overtired and then doesnt sleep as well.

And lol at transfering a sleeping child from car or puahchair etc, not a chance. She will just wake up and even if she has only had five mins that is it, nap done :(

KatherineKrupnik · 18/03/2013 12:48

Why minus a hoody particuarly?

AWimbaWay · 18/03/2013 12:53

Oh no 5mad, that sounds rubbish, luckily if I time it right I can carry her from the car and lay her on a big cushion in the living room, normally if she's in the pushchair I just wheel it into the kitchen and leave her in it. In a way I quite like that she naps on the school run as if she doesn't she tends to run riot around the school playground getting mobbed by the yr 6 girls.

OlyRoller · 18/03/2013 12:59

I always take off her bottoms and socks and put her in her grobag. But pjs mean night sleep.

diddl · 18/03/2013 13:02

Depends on the clothes.

Although I never put PJs on them, I might strip them down to t shirt/vest to be more comfortable.

Nordicmom · 18/03/2013 13:04

I have to admit I've never heard of anyone doing this !!! To be honest couldn't believe what I was reading first .... I get them dressed into dayclothes ,what ever they might be ,in the morning and into pyjamas in the evening at bedtime . I have to say after becoming a parent I never stop being surprised at all the different things people do while raising their children . Things that I would have never thought of :)!

edwardsmum11 · 18/03/2013 13:12

He goes to bed in what he wears minus shoes

MrsDarylDixon · 18/03/2013 14:26

God no! I couldn't be doing with that!

I might take off dd2's trousers if i thought they would be uncomfortable though.

FryOneFatManic · 18/03/2013 14:42

Mine napped in what they wore, minus shoes. In fact DS would fall asleep wherever he was, so changing him would inevitably involve waking him up and then he wouldn't nap again.

Catchingmockingbirds · 18/03/2013 16:21

Normal clothes for naps here.

ballinacup · 18/03/2013 16:32

I take off shoes/coat/unbutton trousers if applicable, then dump him on the couch with his blanket.

JacqueslePeacock · 18/03/2013 16:39

I had never tried undressing DC for naps before this weekend, when I discovered that's what they'd been doing at nursery so I gave it a go. It was a revelation! DS (18mo) slept tons better than he has for months. I shall be doing it from now on I think. It is definitely worth a try if you have a rubbish sleeper on your hands.

MimsyBorogroves · 18/03/2013 16:41

Good grief, no.

Mind you, 15m/o DS2 naps on my knee so that I have an excuse to MN/read my kindle so that would be a lot of extra faff.

pompompom · 18/03/2013 16:44

I removed hoody/dungarees/shoes then he slept in whatever he was wearing.

Most of his clothes resembled PJs anyway Grin

DeputyDeputyChiefOfStaff · 18/03/2013 16:48

Mine were terrible nappers as babies, but changing them into PJs/ sleep suit seemed to help, so I did it. They were always covered in lunch anyway by naptime so I couldn't leave them as they were. I don't think I'd worry about it if they were comfortable and able to sleep well in daytime clothes, but if it encourages a reluctant toddler to nap then why not?

MewlingQuim · 18/03/2013 16:54

DD naps in whatever she's wearing at the time. I'll even leave her shoes in in case taking them off wakes her up! I try to take a jumper or hoodie off though otherwise she wakes up hot and grumpy.

DewDr0p · 18/03/2013 17:08

Normal clothes here too, although might have removed trousers if they didn't look very comfy.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 18/03/2013 17:09

Thank God my initial wtf reaction was not an aberration. I have never thought of doing such a thing.

I do change his top after nap if he gets sweaty.
