to think it's normal to spray quickly and wipe the bath out after you have used it?

because otherwise it's a massive pain in the arse to get the grime off the bath and really leaving bits of hair and dirt and skin for someone else to clean off isn't very nice either

dh and I have had words, but even my 11 year old cleans the bath after using it

Yes to rinsing.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 18/03/2013 08:30

I don't spray it everytime, but I always rinse it out and wipe it down. Then once a week it gets a spray and a scrub, takes no time at all. About a minute after each bath, and 2-3 mins once a week. Bath still looks like new 3 years on.

Owllady · 18/03/2013 08:31

yes just a rinse would be fine, it's the leaving of all the soap and the grime and then it's just harder to get off and muggins here ends up doing it resentfully Hmm at self

BoysAreLikeDogs · 18/03/2013 08:33

do you mean spray with water from showerhead? yes we all do, after we've finished showering; but we don't wipe out as such because we shower rather than bathe iyswim.

Never thought about wiping out, hmm. Am I sposed to? Yikes, hope I ain't a slattern!

Owllady · 18/03/2013 08:35

well with flash or any other brand of cleaner and a spray with the showerhead and then a wipe over with the towel that will be chucked on the floor of the utility room anyway
I don't think my standards are that high, boys Wink

oh maybe they are. I am just sick of picking up everyone elses slack

BoysAreLikeDogs · 18/03/2013 08:42

it's the wet stinking towels that do my head in Angry

wannabedomesticgoddess · 18/03/2013 08:43

I wouldnt say its abnormal to expect that. I rinse after myself and DDs. DP doesnt. So then I have to get the spray out.

My mum does a full spray and wipe with a sponge after every bath. But then shes a real clean freak.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 18/03/2013 08:43

The ones that fester on bedroom floors I mean, not that I have wet stinking towels, eek.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 18/03/2013 08:48

Well we don't do that, and my parents never expected it of us when we were living at home.

A quick rinse round with the shower head to get rid of any bubbles/soap or whatever, and a quick squeegee of the shower screen to stop the limescale.

Don't you reuse towels?

lurkedtoolong · 18/03/2013 09:10

Really only rinse with the shower head. And reuse towels otherwise I'd be going through more towels a week than we actually own.

Owllady · 18/03/2013 09:13

Do you really think it's abnormal to expect him to clean up after himself? All I want him to do is wash it away and have a quick dry round with the towel as it's what the rest of us do but actually the towel part isn't that important it's the washing away of the scum

No we don't reuse towels. We all have very senistive skin and I find it better to wash them, even on a quick wash tbh

No-one would ever leave towels in a bedroom here Shock and believe it or not I am not even a clean freak. I have dogs and chickens and live ona complete mud patch atm, it's the not tidying up after yourself thing that gets on my nerves

It's normal in this house to rinse out the bath, using the shower, after you've had a bath but not to use a cleaning spray or to dry it with a towel.

Would he compromise and just give a quick rinse with water? It's seems good enough for most of us?

bedmonster · 18/03/2013 09:20

Do you dry the inside of the bath? Confused
Nbu to expect it rinsed out, would find it gross to use the bath or shower and have someone else's grime in there (so lazy), but i have trained my dds very well and Dp came quite well house trained already!

CasperGutman · 18/03/2013 09:27

It's normal to rinse the bath out, but not to expect a full-on clean with a product like Flash. And the idea of drying the bath after each use has me confused. Do you dry the kitchen sink after washing up, every time then throw the tea towel in the wash?

lurkedtoolong · 18/03/2013 09:28

You're not a clean freak at all to expect towels not to be left in bedrooms. If they are used once they go to laundry basket/utility room/wherever. If they are reused they need to be hung up straight away to stop them getting smelly.

Personally I think the full spray down, wipe, dry every time is a bit much but if that's what everyone else does then YANBU to expect your DH to do the same. Or look for a compromise of everyone rinsing each time and one member if the family doing a proper spray down per day after everyone has finished their baths. On a rota basis.

Latara · 18/03/2013 09:33

YANBU; it's totally normal to clean the bath after use, otherwise you have to clean it yourself before you use it, & that's a right pain.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 18/03/2013 09:35

Do you dry the kitchen sink after washing up, every time then throw the tea towel in the wash?

Ha! My mum also does this.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 18/03/2013 09:36

The freakish part is that she has a dishwasher. But she still washes and dries the sink every night.

Owllady · 18/03/2013 09:40

yes I do dry the kitchen sink as well
I am obviously abnormal :o

I take your point that a spray with cleaner and dry down is most probably excessive but I am glad you all agree that rinsing it out is what is expected

ChristmasJubilee · 18/03/2013 09:40

I make them use the same towels all week (apparently they need two) and then take them for swimming at the weekend before I let them put them in the wash. No one cleans the bath in our house except me. It wouldn't occur to them.

Owllady · 18/03/2013 09:44

do you all have individual towels? we don't really, we just have towels in the airing cupboard...

OP posts:
HousewifeFromHeaven · 18/03/2013 09:49

No we don't have individual towels however I expect we are in the minority.

HousewifeFromHeaven · 18/03/2013 09:50

I do a sniff test Grin

Spraying the bath with a bit of bathroom cleaner followed by a spray with the shower head takes all of 30 seconds and is not excessive! Drying down is excessive though.
